No real source, it was a combination of
- a book on the thunderbolt in the Pacific Theater (picture of P-47D-30 #18 and a profile of #21, showing the outline of the stripes in yellow)
- aeroplane magazine of june 2009 ( unclear picture of razorbacks with the 201st, which got me started)
- serial number of one of the Razorbacks from this site:
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/p-47.database/
- general idea for the scheme from a bubbletop repaint done by someone else (sorry, I forgot who did it)
- a few assorted pics from the internet
I had no real pic of a mexican razorback, so I decided to copy the bubbletop #21 scheme with a razorback serial.
The site you mention was unknown to me, interestingly, it shows a profile of the aircraft I've painted (42-25412), but in its original colors. Did it fly like that, or was it repainted? Both this site and the other mention #4 for this aircraft, which the pic doesn't show? We'll probably never know...
So in the end, I painted it in the way I wanted to paint it, but probably not historically correct....still looks good though, well, I think so anyway..
