• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

So I've woken up on the first day of 2015 (i.e. January 1st) and having been browsing ORBX products for several weeks now, deciding which ones to purchase, I'd make quite a long list worth a LOT of money and decided I'd deliberately splurge today... A kind of Happy New Year present to myself if you like! :biggrin-new: I could have bought these a few days ago, but deliberately waited until the 1st for my "present", safe in the knowledge the ORBX sale finishes on the 2nd...

...I think you know now how this is gonna end...

Of course what I hadn't done was read the small print, check the time or checked the time zones. In the reality the sale had actually already ended at the stroke of midnight January 2nd AEDT, not UTC! :dejection: This is entirely my own fault... I just needed to get it off my chest!

So, again, the morals of the story are:


  • Always read the small print
  • Check the time
  • Check the time zones
  • Don't "store up" purchases as "presents" to yourself!

To console myself (what a bad start to 2015!) I decided to go and splurge on a whole bunch of ORBX-compatible airfields for 20% off (minus another 5% if you buy 2 or more) at SIM720 instead... Hurrah!

Sorry to hear you missed the ORBX sale, Andy. I picked up my first Sim720 add-on a couple of days ago, but haven't installed yet. Getting 5 East Frisian airfields in the one pack sounded like good value. Did you include this one in your splurge?
