I had a history professor who taught a course on pop music, and he swore this song was really about anxiety over STDs. Really. Wasn't the blonde woman bouncing around in this video a Time Lord in Dr. Who?

Hi all,
I believe it is more about religious freedom.The dancing seems refer to maypole and morris dancing.Both Pagan in origin and would have been seen as witchcraft related up to the 1900's.
It is really only in the past 50 years that We pagans have really been seen as an official religion by the state in the UK.Therefore legally protected from persecution
This only really came about with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Here it is.

  • Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
