The Netherlands in FSX: NL2000 project V. 4

I have a 16 mb/s line Rob; works great!

What's not working at all is the installer though! Copied it to the folder where all parts are stored, but nothing happens when I click it...

Hmmm...try re-downloading the entire package! ;) :d

I'm only on a 7mb line so it's going to take me a while. My monthly d/l limit is 30GB....but I'm lucky in that I've loads of free HDD space. :)

PS. What's the best Torrent program?

Apparently Panda AV was blocking the installer; turned it off and now it is installing fine!

Thanks for the tip & link, Rob ! ( how are you, matey ?... :wavey: )

I'm with grunau on this 'torrent' thing but it might be because i don't understand it. All i know is that it has very much to do with the dark side of cyberspace. Too many times i've seen our stuff (Maam-Sim) accompanied by this word in the net, depriving our museum from the very much needed reveneus.

I don't understand why the NL2000 team decided to use this cumbersome way to make their (HUGE !) masterpiece available instead of on DVD. I would've gladly payed 10 or 20 Euro to pay for the cost. Might be great for one or two big files but for 133 files !!??.....

( it's like Rembrand would've cut up his Nightwatch masterpiece into 133 pieces to fit inside a briefcase... :p:)

I have a very fast internet connection, i managed to download the whole kit'n caboodle during the day and evening only to find that the installer installed all the small airport files alright but only 3 of the big provincie files, DR,FL, and UT. All others return this :

View attachment 9146

Now trying to redownload the others seperately and see if they will install seperately.
Looking at this torrent thingy doing its work since yesterday and also by Erik's remark 'to keep on seeding' i think i finally begin to understand it..... ( didn't know what 'seeding' was, didn't know why it would also display how much 'it was uploading' , didn't know what 'peers' ment, etc.. ) I had this huge listing of everything it was downloading/uploading ( apparently...) but i closed down all these torrent things which showed a green progress line..... I think i understand now this was not a good thing to do....

I suppose i should've looked for some sort of manual of how exactly this torrent thing works but didn't feel like it because i've always hated that word. It might be the greatest invention since sliced bread but we all know how human kind can turn a great invention into something ugly...

I've got all the 30plus Gigs of NL200v4 on my HD, this torrent thingy indeed checks the content of the province files that won't install and i'm trying to redownload. All these files show about the correct size on my HD but the redownload starts at only half of the file size..... Maybe i'll understand why that is tomorrow.....

I love freeware, provide as much of it myself, but in the case of NL2000v4 i would've LOVED it if they had made it commercial and i just could've ordered it on DVD !

Now whej did i leaffs thizz Whhizzky bottlezz.. hipss.. :mix-smi:

You'd need ~7 standard DVD-R/+R's to fit 32GB..... or 4 Dual Layer discs. Even a pretty standard 25GB BluRay disk wouldn't cut the mustard. :)

Also at Flightsim.com, but those are not all files! The photoreal groundtextures still have to be downloaded with torrents or from newsgroups.

That's true, surely, but it's been done before, the complete photoreal Netherlands on a couple disks. I think it was Horizon that provided these. Probabely ( and hopefully... ) the texture resolution of NL2Kv4 will be much higher....

In any case, it's like where a small country can be very big... :)

A few shots from the first sightseeing tour..:

Take-off at Lelystad airport (EHLE); it's not bad but I'll probably keep the Aerosoft version for now:

The museum is up to date; that Meteor is quite a recent addition, as is the repainted Neptune:

The city of Arnhem, with the 'bridge too far' just below my left wing:

Flying over the now closed Soesterberg (EHSB); will have to try the Eighties version (With US 32nd F-15's present) soon:

The Amsterdam ArenA:

Approaching Valkenburg (EHVB); this is the 'active' alternate version, in real life this base is closed:

Flying south along the coast:

It's not perfect yet, but it's great to fly over my own country and see so many familiar things from a different perspective. From Lelystad I flew over Amersfoort, Apeldoorn, Arnhem towards my home town and I managed to find my own house without any problem!

A few more; the swallow 'Waddenzee' in the north:

Texel:

Aerosoft's Lelystad X blends in very well; I can't tell the difference between it and the NL2000V4 scenery!:

I have a great system, but I still had to dial down the sliders for this, but it is worth it. It's amazing scenery. Of course, once I get around to OC'ing my system, I'll be able to move some of those sliders back up. ;)

Nice pics Ferry v0.

Guys, it was a superhuman effort and the flaw of me not using the scenery is not on your end, it is sadly on mine. My current system, though it will fly most any rural area, even Orbx PNW and get 30 fps bogs down to 7-10 fps with Nl2000V.4. It is my system I have saved all files on my external, I do plan on a bang-up computer sometime in the near future that will fly FSX like a charm.

Your scenery, for what little I flew in it is A-one, but it will take a more powerful system than mine to give it justice.

Javis,I just found NL2000 v3.0 on DVD at the FlightSim Store -

Thanks, rohan, yes but v3.0 is for FS9 only. Have just heard that they are not allowed to put v4 on disks or make it commercial because of the aerial photography that has been used for v4.

But thanks for the tip anyway ! :salute:

Cheers,
Jan

Unfortunately, does not appear in the AI aircraft
What is blocking?
Do you have a mix of fs9 and fsx ai flightplans (traffic bgl's) in your FSX installation? Perhaps you installed fs9 scenery with a fs9 traffic bgl into FSX, then fsx traffic bgl's won't work anymore and the AI traffic of the NL2000 scenery is in fsx traffic bgl's.
