The new sim based on FS?

Most important question that comes to my mind is: will it be 64 bit and DX12?

What would *you* do if you had a wagonload of money (pun intended), a floor full of programmers and a ticket to shop around in the abandonned MSFS franchise ? I'd take the dead born MSFlight and unleash the world that was locked up beneath the sorry boundaries of Oahu and small part of Alaska and move on from there.

I have always thought that, next to their FSXSE adventure, that would be DTG's goal. I mean, what else ? Strictly from a virtual flight experience point of view, wasn't MSFlight the best thing since sliced bread ? I truly think it was.

They still won't really let the cat out of the flightbag with this new announcement, understandable because no doubt they'll get bombarded with responses like the two specifically pertaining to it and totally missing the point.

"...built on the foundations of Microsoft’s award-winning Flight technology " is enough for me. ( although i never knew about MSFlight having been award winning... :teapot: )

Jan,

MS Flight was 64 bit, right? Can you confirm that?

I had it for a short while, but the "arcade" element was something that I didn't like at all.

Cheers,

Johan

Ah..... i'm not that good at technical computer stuff, Johan. But i can vaguely remember discussions about it and believe that it was not.... i may be wrong though...

From what I read, they are talking about upgrading and expanding MS FLIGHT for WinX DX12
This would be for PC only - not Xbox....but it seems they want folks to understand that they don't rule out some future xBox port over if there is a demand

If it will be "MS: Flight!" only for DX12 and W10 I will say Thank You and bye bye the new idea.

If it will be "MS:Flight!" with open structure for mods and addons like FSX and P3D and it will include whole World (so only MS:Flight engine)- I can say only YES.

I hope, one day we will see OUTERRA engine in our hobby:

Sound good to me. The thing that "worries" me is the XBox compatibility, I want a new Flight Simulator and not an arcade simulator.

YoYo,
I've been keeping a watching brief on OUTERRA for some time, it gets better and better each week!
So much so that I'm going to put some $$$ into the project.
Dovetail do quite a good job when it comes to the Train sim, but if they are opting to use MS Flight as a base then I'm out!
And I have no intention of going Windows 10 if I can avoid it.

Agreed, MS Flight had the potential to bury FSX, but they chose to eliminate 3rd parties due to financial reasons which was it's death sentence.
Still have it on my sim PC and every once in a while I turn it on just to enjoy the eye candy.....it was right out of the box more appealing than 5 hundred bucks worth of FSX add ons with no tweaking.

"XBox" - DRADIS contact.
"Flight! technology" - Battlestations! Launch Vipers! Prepare for Jump!

Na, na, na,..... don't panic, matey

What's wrong with a company having a second go at MSFlight ? A rough diamond ruined by idiotic decisions.

Yes everyone should have a second opportunity to get it more wrong.....;)

....er....I mean 'fix it'.

It would be interesting if it is FSX based, so every time a new addon comes out everyone asks , is it compatible with Non accel FSX, FSX steam, Prepar3d 55.5483, FSX DT and FS9 (from the FS Onoda Hiroo) :untroubled:

Sure thing they can. But if they also bring console gamers (aka "dirty peasants") into the fold, you know it won't be anything really complex.
