The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Great site. Did cost me a couple hours of enjoyable time. I've no candidate bird to contribute. Open forum?

Well, OK, the silence is deafening :pop4:.
This is too easy (unless you want to go for the registration and location) but we need to move along...

Well I'd better have a punt at this one. The (Beech) Pac-Air Turbo-Tradewind ?

Only pic I can find is of one in the B.C Aviation Museum in :canada: (C-FBCF)

Thanks Rob. Sadly, we never got to Paradise.. The winds round Madeira that week meant landing was impossible - we had an overnight stop in Tenerife then back home. Trying again in April.

Now here's an oddball that has been here before, but many years ago at the instigation of our dearly departed Walter (Wout). He managed to defeat everyone at that time with this saturnine-looking mystery - don't think it will last long now, though !

Please excuse the clumsy photoshopping - there were a few clues in the original.

Thank you, Mike.

Wierd, perhaps, but in many ways a very modern design for 1948.

I shall not be able to post the next challenge until, I expect, this evening.

Have some Madiera, m'dear
Unless it's windy this year.
In that case you'll have to wait,
and hope that April isn't too late;
So have some Madeira, m'dear

We visited the Museum back in mid 2015. These are the only pics I took of the Pac Aero Tradewind. Sorry for the bad lighting, but there were no lights on in the restoration hangar.

Thanks Mike - I am indebted to an old faithful book- Wm Green's 'Aircraft of the World'. (1953 edition -same age as your wee flivver)

Here's an aggie - we haven't had one for a while - which is not French...

Pawnee cockpit and rear fuselage/tail
Cessna 188 forward fuselage, wing center section and gear
Possibly mated to Pawnee wings with 3rd strut added,
and then some powerplant tied on the front.

Beats me...
