• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Argh.

I’m disheartened by all these image search cheats. You guys are better than that! I have never used it to spot a mystery plane and refuse to. What’s the point? There is no skill in doing that.

Please refrain from doing it moving forward. Let’s keep this honest and fun. It has already nearly ruined another mystery plane thread.

Just for the record, the ONLY time I've ever used image cheat software in this forum was for the last post. And the ONLY reason was that we were told it was in Aerofiles, and the mystery bird could have been any one of hundreds of similar bipes. If I was a regular user of image cheat software I would probably have been able to get MANY MANY more of the mysteries on here, but I haven't. In fact I'm one of the lower scoring participants (much to my disappointment I might add.) I find it much more entertaining to hunt out the clues and as a general rule discourage the use of said software. Forgive my indiscretion - was done far more in self directed humor than from a desire to score the point.

Okay, I’m off my soapbox for now.
Thanks,

PS: The new one is the Gerbrecht W.3

Hi Moses!
Two points:
1 - I agree with you hundred percent upon the necessity of keeping this forum honest and fun.2- Yes it is the Gerbrecht W.3 (I don't know whether it was shown on the forum some time ago. Certainly not after April which is the date I joined)
Your turn of course

Okay good. No worries then.

Here is a little revenge though. Something from the deep archives....and before you ask, it did fly!

Just bought Juptner's 9 Volume (Revised 1990's) set from AbeBooks.com today. Very good condition with dust jackets for $140.00.
I think that was a pretty good price - I've seen each individual book in VG condition go for $50.00 each.

Excellent. You will get a lot of mileage out of those. I pieced my set together over time and all are different conditions.

:isadizzy: OMG Kevin. Trying to wrap my head around this one....and what it WAS before they chopped the nose off of it and glued it to the top of the wing.
An early ducted fan experiment no doubt.

Not American (or French). In fact, had to run the text through a translator to read anything about it. Early 1920's effort.

It is Italian and from what I have read the Stipa might have been an extension of this design idea although not proven.

Hi Moses
Fuselage and wings are identical to a Polikarpov R5: I wouldn't be surprised if your item could be a version of that same aircraft with a V tail!
