The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

My apologies, forgot to reply to Dan ...:redf: He deserves the :guinness: - will send a postal order to Texas..:cowboy:

Moses' airliner is a Jupiter-engined Quantas-built DH50.

Indeed, sir - thought the canopy might throw you chaps off the scent....over to you :icon29:

(for those that like to keep them , here is the unadulterated photo, plus another canopied one in civil markings. Anyone like to have a go at the pylon-mounted pusher in the background?....)

Paging Wout...paging Wout... Please report to the mystery thread.:icon_lol:

I'm still trying to figure out the pusher sitting behind the Miles!

It is tempting to make a connection with the ill-fated Miles Pusher - around the same time as the M.18, and I can find no other British pusher of similar appearance.

The strutting arrangements for the engine pod do show some similarity - maybe this is another tantalising glimpse of this rare bird ?

(Sorry, DHC2, for digressing - I am tap-dancing because I haven't a clue about your monoprop...)

Ignore that last post - I'm talking codswallop. (What's new ? I hear you all cry....)

How about this Goodyear GA-2 ??? I think at least one got to Europe..

Don't have a clue on John's little GA number other than thinking it is something European.

I think you got the engine pod Mike but the rounded tail in that one photo makes me think it's something else. Hmm.

I don't think the rounded tail belongs to the mystery pusher.....I think it belongs to another plane between the Miles M.18 and our mystery, but facing to the right. If the rounded tail belonged to the pusher that would make the fuselage extremely short IMO.

Agreed with you Gents. That must be a Miles in the middle!

The new mystery looks vaguely familiar. No hits yet.

Not an Aeronca or Caspar, however the similarities between this and the Aeronca C-2/C-3 are unmistakeable. The Aeroncas had landing/flying wires for wing bracing whereas this one has more contemporary wing struts. Both are from the same era. Produced in a few variants differing mainly in the powerplants. Total production of 55 of which 4 are known to still exist today (2 flying, 1 in museum, and 1 project). It hails from the cornfields of Indiana.
