    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

I'm going to post one that has been here before several years ago - nobody got it then, and it appears to be shrouded in mystery - if Kevin and Keith would kindly refrain, perhaps some of our newer friends may be able to shed light on it

To save time I can tell you that it is, inevitably, French.

Not a Tellier, Mike - it is more obscure.

Built 1918, 2 Panhard engines, designed for anti-submarine warfare. A second, larger boat was built later - neither entered service. Will give the answer tomorrow morning unless someone comes up with the goodies. I wish someone would !
 
Have looked for info on this beautiful hydravion without any luck. I did find reference that the firm that built it was a metalworks company in Paris.

And there was a second boat??
 
This floater has been seen here before......as well as on two other sites. And yes, I have reference to a second one as well....whether it was a project I know not.
 
Yes, I was hoping someone had an arrière-grand-père who was a metal-basher in the mysterious Brun-Cottan works ! Strange that the only information seems to be in the Davilla & Soltan book - I wonder what their sources were? There is a reference in the Morareau book (as Brun-Cottant) but no details.

As Keith and Kevin both participated in that earlier post (5 years ago !), we'll see what juicy new mystery Gx come up with.......:very_drunk:
 
May I ask for your help with this strange beauty? To my knowledge it is still unidentified. It appeared in the EAA Vintage Airplane Magazine October 1996 and January 1997 issues.

Hopefully a wee clue:

"The picture was taken by a Philadelphia commercial photographer, R. Newell & Son of South 6th St. We don't know the year, nor do we know who the pilot is."
 
Can't help here, Gx - this is very much in Kevin's territory - that mag is not really known much outside the US.
 
I am hoping for a fuzzy US newspaper copy that provides an answer.

If not it's open house 24 hours after the first post.
