I could acquire the photo of the Ireland N-2D flying boat I had copied from ebay and which I posted some days ago.

Here is now the "full version" without markings :joyous:
On the back of the photo is written " Long Island, August 1928"

Ah, those were the days, ff. Never mind the neighbours' new car, let's compare seaplanes ! I wonder if they still do that in the Hamptons......

Anyway, back to business. gX's floater with its spindly pilot is the Kawanishi K-5.
 
Don't know about reliable - but I just love 'em....(Kevin delights in finding new and baffling floaters for me.) One of my unforgettable experiences was getting into this machine for a half-hour over Lake Como. Believe it or not, my trusty pilot thought it would be a good idea to loop it !
