The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Hi giruXX:very_drunk:
Very correct sir!. Sometimes seen it designated as AK-04 for André Koenig no. 4. French registration was F-PYGG.
Surprise us!

Well the wings and tail are very similar to the SABCA S20 Libellule - but there the resemblance ends !

Ah, so - the Sun has Risen and shone its imperial light on this mystery - the Tokyo Imperial University LB-2 !:japan:

We've had some tricky designation problems recently - here comes another !

As far as I can make out, this is a Brandenburg-Phönix/Oeffag model K, acquired by the US Navy, hence the confusing markings !

Congrats, Mike. :icon29:

I have it as Hansa-Brandenburg W.13/Oeffag K in the US Navy, originally designed by Ernst Heinkel! Serial was A-5806.

Over to Scotland. :)

Thanks ff - it looks like I have a heavy day coming up, so am happy to declare Open House - some of you must have some evil mysteries lurking in the vaults........
