• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Well I can't find much more after the Yak 20/UT-2. Maybe some postwar reincarnation - anyone else out there ??

Probably not?

Time to reveal, perhaps. Two :icon29: for lefty then (who spent a lot of effort).

It is the UT-2 replica built by Rusavia, registered RA-2724G, and first flown on 13th October 2016. See: http://www.rusavia.com/enterprise/restoration/ut-2.html http://www.reaa.ru/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1211402254/134 It is named Yakovlev UT-2B because of differences to the original, like a more powerful Shvetsov M-11FR engine.
Some journals just reported about it (Le Fana de l’Aviation Jan. 2017, Klassiker der Luftfahrt 02/2017, etc.?) Others will follow for sure.

Hmm, thanks, gX, but I'm not sure about replicas.....

Anyway, from a non-glider man, here's another !

No other takers, gX - this is the Boisavia B.603 Mercurey.

Piper clones can be a real pain, because they tend to look identical, but this one has one small identifying feature - most of the others have the lower end of the Vee struts fixed at the rear of the undercarriage struts - this one's at the front !

Here is another machine of the larger variety.

A brew for gX on the L-4.:very_drunk:

The story goes, Mr. Lawson got a little impatient and decided to have the crew take off from a short improvised dirt runway near the hanger where it was built instead of trucking it to a larger nearby airstrip. The pilot got it airborne to his credit but caught some trees on climb out. The brand new fancy loo went POOF!

Thank you BG for your guess. I think there is no relation to the searched aircraft.
Moses03's hint is appropriate :engel016:, however.
