It's an awfy big web, Kevin ! Can't find this in the usual places - it looks a flimsy effort indeed - wouldn't fancy a heavy landing on that gear - and very dated for late 30's......is that a Kinner up front ?
 
Velie up front Mike. First flown in late 1938 I believe.

Here is an earlier photo of it. Looks like an open cockpit at first.

Hélas, I couldn't find any visual proof of the Shepard Krum on the web.

Here is another but better documented exotic.

The Farnham FC-1 Fly-Cycle N201A. She had a control bar like that used on a motorbike and the pilot rode the FC-1 astride (is that the proper word?).

The wheel u/c was only for ground handling, so she was a pure flying boat
