I suspect this is in fact the Alfaro 2.

The Alfaro 1 was a glider (even if the Breguet challenge quizz maker thinks otherwise, and if flyingmachines.ru thoughtlessly repeats it).

Well, I'm beaten. I've been right through j2mcl-planeurs.net, checking inter-war year gliders from what I'd regard as Southern Europe, and come up with nothing that fits the bill.

I have it as the Alfaro 1.
After the Alfaro 2, I never expected it to last this long.

May I politely ask for the source of that mystery?
Even knowing the answer I couldn't find a single picture of the Alfaro 1.

In truth, my only certainty is that it comes from my hard disk, with a date of 2014-02-01.

I can see why it feels suspiscious: it looks more modern and streamlined than a 1914 design.

The picture over at the SPF shows the registration 10539, according to a later post by c460 and to aerofiles this should be the Alfaro LPG-2-30 built in the US then.

I agree it is most probably the LPG-2-30.

And on page 84, the Spanish text says it is "a Chanute-style glider, like Heraclio may have built".
So the Alfaro 1 is not this one, but in author's mind should be similar to it.

Evidently a transport sanitaire, but the trouble is that I can't find a parasol wing example that looks anything like the one illustrated!

It is indeed a transport sanitaire (even in the correct language ).
The picture is a bit fuzzy but if you look closely you can see two pairs of struts on each side which is rather characteristic for most early types of this manufacturer.
