The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Dang! I hate being right. At least when I'm 2500 miles from home with sunshine, golf and cervezas to get in the way. I should have kept quiet so I wouldn't have to say

...Open House

I have a couple of prospects but they are on another computer at home

Found a photo of what appears to be the same machine - Farman F.40 F-FARB, which appeared at the Hendon Air Pageant in 1937 and 39.

Intrigued, though, by the flashy machine in front of it !

I have no proof of its type number but it is from my fathers few photos & internet searching showed it as a Farman F40 or a F44. Where & When comes from my previous Bleriot crash so Brooklands 1936. As for the fancy painted beast - possibly a BA Eagle?
:encouragement: Your turn
Keith

P.S. As I'm not able to confirm the date of the 1938 Hendon Display I cannot rule that place because I have a photo of me in the arms of my father at Shoreham that year being born at beginning of May & Christened In West Byfleet in June. I found a page that says the F40 was delivered to Brooklands in 1934 then joined the Nash collection before going to Hendon. I found some photos of a trip to Hendon, but do not know which year, so that photo of my fathers could be Hendon not Brooklands!

I wondered about it too Mike. A feathered flyer! There are some Russian birds with paint like that but the location does not make sense.

Could that feathered bird be a Monospar?

Here are two pictures from a similar angle (the first one is mirrored). The Danish Monospar seems to lack the small strut from the rudder to the elevator.

..... if anyone else can hazard a guess as to the machine with the gaudy plumage, pray proceed ! (It has twin -tail empennage...)

Like Kevin, I have a recollection of a rather oddball Russian flying machine having been painted in similar fashion, but I'm afraid that I can recollect no more than that and utilising that slight recollection has produced nothing on the subject by way of online searching!

I think you have the Kalinin K-12 in mind ......

No, I think Robert has hit the nail on the head ! Look at the horizontal tail surface that can be seen in both photos - the central hinge, and trim tab, are unique to the Monospar.
As for the paint job, I have searched to no avail !

Thank you, Robert, but at this time of the day I think that I'll stick to coffee!

Now here's something that served the same purpose as the Gazelle but a couple of decades earlier.
