• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

No, but it is a country with a border with Germany. That narrows it down to nine (minus Belgium!)

This one was used as the personal limo of the C.O. of the country's Air Force.

A later relative was posted way way back in this very forum.

OK, time to reveal the Alfred Comte AC-4 Gentleman, normally sporting one of these - :switzerland:

Here's a much easier mystery twin..

Wasn't he one of the Lakeland Poets ????

Well, maybe one of the cousins. I'm talking about John Stringfellow. He was the first to answer the Air Ministry's B.3/34 specification with a twin propeller monoplane. Stringfellow's design was developed into the A.W. 38.(Wadsworth merely put up the money). Stringfellow's work is now almost completely forgotten, but his friend Henson is known worldwide as the creator of the Muppets.

Hmmmmm. I wonder what they're putting in the beer down Kansas way these days.....

I'm off to beddybyes with a slim volume of A.E.Housman. ('Shropshire Lad', also designed the Fairey Battle in his spare time.)

I expect a new mystery in the morning.

Quick stop in before hitting the sack only to find Hurricane has gone OH. Better post something or Lefty will be grumpy in the am. Submitted, a twin...

Whitley Mk.1 prototype?

The mystery is further west than France. Those are two Packard Diesel engines...

That's the one. :icon29: About to head out with the family for several hours so please post something if you have one Hurricane, otherwise open board then.
