The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Too easy for Mr. floater. A Douglas "DF" 105 indeed. The one above was in service with Aeroflot from 1938-1940.

Over to Fife- :icon29:

Well I went to the airport this morning with my brother to get him back to Providence RI.

I came back with him because, it appears, America is closed today !

Good luck in the snow, all you chaps, only this time don't send it over here as usual..........

Here's a wee tripe.

I'm pretty sure we've seen this one before...

Astoux-Védrines Experimental Triplane

And yes Mike, we here in the heartland are getting pounded. Just moved into Chicago about an hour ago. Reportedly we'll get about 18" by the time it's over tomorrow afternoon. Snowblower is gassed and ready.

Here's a nice looking machine to ponder -

.....and at 7pm my furnace decides to take a crap. 11 degrees F, 45 mph winds, and 3 foot snowdrifts on otherwise impassible roads. Just lovely.

Following your weather with interest (and without envy). Wishing you all strength needed!
Understand from Kevin (Mozes03) weather in Texas also leaves much to be desired.
Trust me, it will get better, eventually

As tho the airplane. The Dalotel DM-165 Viking (not a bad choice with this weather) of France.
Production run of 1

Hi Kevin,
sorry, not Italy. Country of origin is in Europe though.
Hint: The aircraft was one of 3 types selected for a competition for an aeroclub trainer/tourer and was placed third.
And of course not even the winner went into production so the country ended up with 3 prototypes of which one (the winner) is surviving in a museum and I am not sure about on the subject plane.

In that case it's Yugoslavian ( the winner being the UTVA C-3 Trojka?) but there is precious little information about the other two contestants !
Can't dig up anything. Kevin ??

Hi Mike, Kevin,
Sorry not Yugoslavia. Little bit to the North. :jump:
Hint: One of the contenders (the one in the Museum ) has gull wings

Correct Mike, the Pajtas it is. :guinness:
It was later modified into a single-seater (aerobatic training), hence the smaller bubble canopy.

Wonder how long this one will last.

Hi Mike, that is very correct :icon29::icon29:
Not bad for 1940/1941 light plane. All metal and cantilever wings

I hand the controls to you
