The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Came across this recently & thought it rather obscure, though it's still flying...

(Apologies for blurry photo from big book, though this aircraft is out there on the net.)

Imagine what Health and Safety would have to say about that in these days.(I meant the Fokker, of course)
The noise alone would probably kill you !

Ralf's baby is a Civilian Coupe. The Civilian Aircraft Company was incorporated in July 1930, but by the time the 1931 Jane's had gone to press, the company had closed down ! (Must have had Icelandic funding)

Another :icon29: to lefty, who now owns the brewery, if not the distillery...

Thanks for the info on Civilian. I've come across the aircraft a few times, but didn't know anything about the company. Would love to see that survivor at a show one day.

Over to you again, Mike! :ernae:

Sadly, I'm going to follow up with something very odoriferous indeed......this is just for Moses.

Doesn't odoriferous mean smelly? Either it's gas-powered (unlikely), or this is simply a stinker... :bs:

The surviving Civilian Coupe is G-ABNT which was based at Biggin Hill with Shipping & Airlines about a decade ago (I'm going through old Aeroplanes at the moment). There is a nice picture of it here:http://www.airliners.net/photo/Shipping-and-Airlines/Civilian-Coupe-II/0818447&tbl=photo_

airliners.net is a very nice site which is full of good stuff. Somehow I keep ending up there when searching for answers to your eternal, infernal mysteries!

Don't think you'll find this one on that site (or any others, come to that !)

And yes, it does mean it's a stinker !

I have come across an aeroplane called the Krapish K-4, not at all sure what it looked like, I can't find a picture or information on it.

Yes it is the Azcarate - a dreary brute which I did not want to linger around !
Over to Ferry.

I assume the aircraft in the photo was the one that circumnavigated Mexico in 58 flights, looking at all the logo's on the fuselage..?

From Wikipedia:
"On 30 September 1928, pilot León and Subteniente and mechanic Ricardo González set out on an aerial circumnavigation of Mexico in an O-E-1. Conducted in 58 legs, they completed their 10,986 km (6,850 mile) flight on 18 December."

Here's another not-so-pretty one:

How do you guys post pictures that can be enlarged? I presume the file host site is different to mine.
