The Shagbat RELEASED!

Almost there.....these things take time!!!

After numerous revisions and amendments, she is nearly ready for release. We never ever want to let an aeroplane to be released if it doesn't replicate the actual type (as far as the software lets us) and so its taken a little while for it to be tested. Brian Horsey of course has worked his magic with the Walrus, so watch this space!!!

Thanks for your continuing interest.

Best wishes,

Martin

Thanks, i do not want to rush anything, take as much time you need, glad there's not much left, just a bit more waiting

"Shagbat" sond like a bat with a serious addiction to Viagra and aphrodisaics.

I thought using one of the aircraft's nicknames as a title for this thread, would get more people to read it!!! Its other nickname was 'Steam Pigeon', which originated when water struck the engine and produced steam.

As to the other name all that I've found is this:
http://www.textkit.com/greek-latin-forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1097

Which I find a little strange as the aeroplane was well loved by its crew and gave sterling service throughout WW2. Perhaps we will never know!

Cheers,

Martin

"a legendary bird, whose reputed ever-decreasing circular flightpad had an inevitable conclusion"

to me this makes sense, the circular pattern the ideal comparison for a search pattern to locate downed pilots.

Now you come to mention it! Never thought of that myself, my excuse it was late at night :)

Hopefully not much longer to wait, but then found a few new items to be amended this morning, so its always good to try and make things better before release. Found out today that the Walrus modelled here flew from my local airfield (Plymouth - now closed) and then saw service at nearby Bolt Head. It sadly sank 10 miles off of the Isles of Scilly on the 1st June 1943, when she was being towed back to the Cornish coast after an engine failure.

Cheers,

Martin

Walrus - LAUNCHED !

Folks I'm pleased to announce that our Walrus is now available in the new additions and FS2004 section of the library at Flightsim.com. It's supermarine_walrus-1.zip . :applause:
Please note that this model is primarily for FS9 and may not perform too well on water in FSX.
Cheers :guinness:

Read your cryptic comments on the Britsim forum yesterday, and wondered if this was in the offing. Thanks Dave et al, looks like another winner from the Britsim team. Have a virtual beer on me. :icon29::icon29:

Downloads are going very well indeed with over 300 people so far and that's in just one day. Is there anyway that this thread can be made a sticky now, or even just had the title amended to mention as Dave said - LAUNCHED! :)

Best wishes and hope you are all enjoying her,

Martin

I second that! I'm off to download!:salute::salute::salute:

Hello everyone,

I installed the Walrus in FSX to see if it worked.
The plane works with FSX and fly very well, but refuses to take off or land on water, it crashes the party started.

Fun, a seaplane that does not like water. LOL :isadizzy:

What should be changed in the files for the aircraft returns to its natural environment.

The heck with FSX, it works very well in FS9. Definitely a keeper.

I think that the next time Flight 19 decides to go slow, I'm flying the Shagbat...

The aeroplane was built for FS2004 as the builder doesn't have FSX. We knew of the problems that occurred when the aircraft touched down on water in FSX and upon release this problem had not been resolved. But, we hope in the future that the matter can be changed and you will be able to fly her anywhere. As a FS2004 model it does what it should in that sim, but not in FSX. Apologies.

This aeroplane took over 700 hours to build and quite a lot of money was used in the research stage to get her to what she is today. I don't think we could have created a more accurate model.

Thank you,

Martin

Just wanted to add that BritSim has a Pegasus sound set that works quite well with the Walrus. (yeah, I'm already enhancing it)

Pegasus Sound

A Pegasus soundset ? - yes, that's right Willy - just like it says in the Readme-1st file.:icon_lol:
It's by Gary Smith, entitled Single_Pegasus_sound.zip. Search for it under 'pegasus' at Britsim.com folks.
Glad you like the aircraft. :salute:
Cheers
