This one is perhaps the final word in G-10s! It has the streamlined Erla type 110 cowling without the lower cowl bulges of the Messerschmitt and WNF versions, and the smooth left-hand gun fairing, not to mention a 30mm MK108 cannon, DB605 DCM engine with 100 octane fuel, MW-50 boost system and wide wheels.
It has often been misidentified as belonging to JG 7, and predictably the French Histoire et Collections "Me109 Volume II" falls into the trap yet again - apart from showing it erroneously as a WNF machine with the standard type 100 cowling. Other than a half-dozen temporarily-attached Bf109g-6 and g-14 aircraft for training purposes only, the Me262-equipped JG 7 did not operate Bf109s...
In fact, as far as anyone can possibly tell, it was operated by 15./JG 301, as it is represented here. It was shot down on 2nd March 1945 over Regenhardt, with the loss of its pilot, Uffiz. Rudolph Welsch.
Coming very soon...
