Good afternoon,
The work on Part II of the Battle of France has begun in earnest. Thanks to Captain Kurt for four new airfields around Paris, and a British emergency field further along the Seine.
Also, a couple of new missions already...

"summary_string"=Kamerad, herhoren! As part of our effort to bleed France white, most Kampfgeschwader units will be dispatched to attack targets all over France. Your Ju-88s will raid the Port of Marseille in Southern France. This area hasn't seen much action, so this will be a warning that no quarter of France is still safe! Und passen Sie auf sich auf!
"objective_string"=On 1 June 1940, a total of eighteen Ju-88s lifted off from Lechfeld airfield at 0400 and headed to the French city of Marseille. To avoid flying over Swiss airspace, they flew west-southwest to Lyon, then south through the Rhone River valley to reach the French port. Due to fuel limitations, this route will be more direct. In the actual mission, the 88s caused moderate damage to the Kuhlmann chemical plant & the harbor. The British troop ship Oxford was hit, along with a French auxiliary cruiser, the Chella. One Junkers was hit by anti-aircraft fire, and failed to make it back over the Alps. Another 88 was lost later that day when additional Ju-88s raided the port, this time they got intercepted by Bloch fighters of GC III/9. This mission focuses on the morning raid.
"intelligence_string"=Once airborne you'll fly southwest over the Alps to reach the French port, and then reverse course to fly a parallel route back home. You will need to stay at 3,500m or higher to cross the Alps safely. Due to fuel concerns, this route places you at risk for intercepts by Swiss fighters, so if caught, try to outrun 'em & reach German or Italian airspace. Over this port, target the docks, warehouses, and chemical plant. Viel Gluck!

"summary_string"=Aufpassen Manner! Lyon-Bron aerodrome is a base for several French fighter squadrons, and is being used to intercept our bomber formations as we fly out of the Alps & then turn south along the Rhone River valley. Your bombers are being sent today to level the base facilities and destroy their fighters on the ground! Let's show the French that Fall Rot will overwhelm their remaining defenses and force them out of the war!
"objective_string"=On the afternoon of 1 May 1940, some thirty-five Heinkel 111s of III/KG 53 left bases in Bavaria to hit Lyon-Bron airfield, but were first intercepted over Swiss airspace by 109-D fighters, losing two bombers, and then over Lyon by French Bloch 152s of GC III/9. French pilots claimed two more 111s, but nine of their fighters were damaged, and four pilots wounded. As they departed, another He-111 was damaged near the town of Oyannax, and was later shot down by Swiss 109s. This sortie differs from the real raid with risk of Swiss interception occuring on the return flight, and by including an escort of Bf-110s to help protect your flight over France.
"intelligence_string"=Lyon-Bron is southwest of you, but your route will take you close to the Swiss border. After takeoff, you will form up with the other Heinkels and head southwest, picking up your Zerstorer escort near the French border. As you approach Lyon, you will hit the field from the north, & then turn northeast to reach Germany. On your return flight be sure to not cross over into Swiss airspace, they have been aggressively defending their skies. Your altitude for this raid will be 4,500m, and the other flights will stagger in altitude. Put your bombs on target, and then get back home!
