There's Nothing Like Fresh Mesh ...

Been quiet over here for a while...here is a simple (tho' not so simple to paint) but elegant West Coast Air Mallard ca. 1975 livery on-the-shelf for the future release of Mr. Shupe's highly anticipated FS9 Mallard.

wellis, do you have any history for C-GENT? I know it was on the Canadian register circa 1975 (and one of the first to use a "G" series reg.) along with C-GIRL. The colour scheme looks a lot like what was worn by CF-UOT (which once belonged to Canadair) but I haven't been able to trace it's history.

I aoplogize, srgalahad for not replying sooner, called away by other things. What history I have for this machine is limited and a bit conflicting. C-GENT was assigned to Mallard J-54 in 1975 at the time of the photo I used as a basis for the paint. Airliners.net has several photographs showing J-54 as C-GENT, N7777Q, N27DF, and N54GZ. The latter being the most recent. Several sources indicate she was built in 1946, while another says 1950. According to one site, she had 15 different registrations and clearly has gone through a number of different owners. Latest information is updated in Milton's message below, and the latest pictures show that beautiful deep burgundy scheme (which I am currently working on for FS9, FSX Native/P3D). I was not able to link C-FUOT to this particular machine, but that does not mean it wasn't. I do have data and photographs from Airliners.net indicating that C-FUOT was assigned to a turbo converted mallard in the Mid 1980's to 1990's. This was cn J-34 and I have done paints for both its 1985 and 1995 paint schemes for Milton's FS9 turbo mallard when it is released.

She is ready...at least from my side....
gentlemen, what started as a praise, to Miltons beautiful work, again, kept going in the form of texturing....;)
interior details, cockpit panel and "accessories", plus a whole new exterior, all based on Rachaels amazing master textures of course...then at 5 AM I uploaded to Miltons dropbox a set of textures for two colour schemes with respective interiors, Chalks from tje 70s and Catalina Airlines ...two sets of textures the really big ones, 4096x4096 which I called HD, and the 2048x2048 textures, though resized they still keep all the details and visual appeal!

The House Colours are coming next, Thursday when Im home.
then a PaintKit, in 2048x2048 size, for you to play with ;)

and finally, a small word to you all;
- I passed through some real bad times last year. When I found this aircraft here, and realized she was coming finally for FSX by the hands of our talented Mr.Schupe, I was far from knowing that I would be so involved with it texturewise!
As I said to Milton, it helped me somehow coming back to my old "self", and although I had not touched FSX in a few years, repainting ( last big job was the Caravelle for AFG and before that the B727 from Flight1) the Grumman Mallard did it!

But again, I am a freak for detail. Many times those interiors would be considered OK as they were, but I kept pushing the envelope, and trying new things....all this can be seen in Miltons previews above.

I think you will love spending time in that cabin as well, though most of you are, naturally, the cockpit type!;)
so for all the time I took to paint this bird, accept my sincere apologies, for making you wait, and a huge Thank You to Milton, for his kindness, and continuous support ( read patience too!)

thank you all for your attention.

Milton, check that dropbox of yours!;)))))

Chalk and cheese

Manecas,

There is a saying in my language - 'Everything comes to he who waits'.

I have waited and - WOW!

Thank you for working with all those that have made this model what it is and clothing it internally and externally in some outstanding skins.

Thanks again.

Mal

Mal, I hope you like it when you see it. Milton added a few more bits, tweaked it here and there, its a beautiful and well designed model, so as I said, my textures had to equal such quality!:untroubled:
Its a freeware model with that payware feel and look!:jump::jump::jump:

Hi, I see that there is talk of FSX here in the Fs2004 forum.

Will the textures be for FS2004 or FSX?

I think Milton will have this as a FS9 release, but he will also have it released for FSX. Im flying it in FSX, with both 4096x4096 textures, fuselage and wings, and also the smaller size, 2048x2048. Milton will explain better!;)

I will prepare a beta for this week and will need some of you to check out the package.

The beta will include the radial based Classic and Modern business models and two liveries. The 3rd livery (House) will not be available for another week.

Since these two models, flight model, liveries, and cockpits are quite different from the FSX native version LDR released, I will also make available a port over FSX version with high definition textures.

More later ...

I am excited!! have more paints in the works!! :jump: Next up Air Zoo Museum N2954 and Air BC (also red)

Milton, I will get you the House colours Mallard with its respective classic interiors next Thursday, Friday the latest. Im coming home next Wednesday night, straight to the computer and photoshop!;)))))

Just a status update on the FS9 Mallard beta:

I have the package ready but decided to await the Classic version textures manecas mentioned above. That would make the beta a complete package and allow us to test out all the functions in both Classic and Modern variants.

So, with that said, we are looking at next weekend as the earliest time to get this beta package out.

Sorry for the delay.

The beta will also include a separate FSX Port Over package with higher resolution textures and an FSX specific flight model.

I have no doubt it will be more than worth the wait sir. As Nigel mentioned above, I too have already had countless hours of fun flying and painting this beautiful model (and its FSX native counterpart)!

Here are some WIP screen caps of my rendition of N2954, Grumman Mallard cn J-14, currently on static display at the Air Zoo Aerospace and Science Center, Kalamazoo, Michigan. These caps include two for the FS9 version and two for the FSX Port-over in the works at Milton's (et. al.). A FSX Native version is in the works as well.
