Things are looking up for FSX

Lateral-G

Chief Test Pilot
Last year there was a dearth of aircraft for FSX.

This year we have a plethora of aircraft to choose from.

To name just a few:

A2A B377
Lotus L-39
AS PBY Catalina
Dino's T-45 & F-14
DG's Auster, Hunters
Piglet's many numerous contributions
Ivan Jurcaga's Mig-21
Tom Ruth's An-124

Plus there are many more in the immediate future.

Life is good for FSX! :guinness:

Lateral G - i agree!

I would add:-

Real Flight's Hellcat
Real Air's Duke
Flight Replica's Cubs
Cera's Bell 214
Carenado's Seneca

The latest wave of products has been, as you say, really good - so good I have hardly had anything to be grumpy about :engel016:

Agreed! And lots of goodness on the way, Nemeth Puma, Flight1 B200, Milviz P-38, Sibwings Birddog, FTX PNW, FSAddon EmmaX, etc, etc................:ernae:

Not only are the numbers growing, but the quality is better than it's ever been too. Only today I reinstalled the CS F-104, and soon noticed how dated it looked - and this was once considered a top notch addon! Of course, it's still very much acceptable, but if you compare, for example, the VC to that of the Lotus L-39, you'll see how far we've come over the past few years.

Ultimate Terrain X for Alaska *should* be out before year's end? Scheduled to have the first rendition of ProjectX, which is intelligently placed autogen and scenery objects. So the Flight1 forums say...

Lets not forget the classics hangar FW190.
Also not to hijack the thread but where can i find that mig21? I remember a thread about it here and when i tried to search i got no results.

It took a while to figure the thing out...

A very sophisticated set of things to accomplish for that sim...

:isadizzy:

IT's the same thing that happened from FS98 to FS2000 to FS2002 to FS2004 to FS-X.

It took "longer" for FS-X to take hold because the rules (SDKs/SP) changed "too" often. Now that "what we have is what we'll get" for the foreseeable future - i.e. a stable set of rules to play by, we're seeing the results of developers "taking the plunge" (Some needed more encouragement than others - you'd be surprised how many times a certain lion-hearted fellow had to be thrown back into the FS-X swimming pool until he finally decided to swim...).

ALso, as people have been upgrading hardware, the models run better, etc.

Felix said it all. With no "whats-FSX11-gonna-be-like " hanging over our heads, we are free and clear to just plow ahead and build planes.

I agree, the demise of the ACES team and FS11 means FSX is here to stay for a while. Developers, both freeware and payware, don't have to worry at this time about forward compatibility with another installment in the FS series.
