• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

:kilroy:Roger58, you have to tell your AV program to ignore or not check the BDP Zapper. Most, if not all, AV programs have been getting a bit "touchy" about the ETO BDP Zapper lately. I assure you, it is not a virus, worm, malware, or anything harmful to your machine. You are getting a false positive.:d

Yes I know. The utility programers to whom I refered are those at Norton/Symantic and Malware Bytes.

Being suspicious of everything, I have often wondered if Symantc doesn't have a black ops division whose job is to invent viruses, worms, trojans, and malware to keep their market strong.
 
Norton doesn't like the ETO Backup utility either, but it can be knocked into shape via the Exclusions settings in NIS. :a1089:

By definition -- does it not go through and wipe out the olde bdp files --
is that not the actions of a worm?

I'd say the malware call is good --
and so is the zapper.

Exclusions are what Symantec call 'em - what McAfee call 'em I don't know. Perhaps the help files can tell you? EDIT: It's done through the Trusted list, apparently.

@exc141ac - It's a lousy worm that only deletes files the program will automatically re-create next time it runs! :icon_lol:
