Those still on Windows 10 using Extended Security Updates

Microsoft just announced this:-

"We understand that moving to a new PC can take time. As part of our ongoing commitment to helping customers stay secure during the transition, the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme for personal devices is being provided an additional year. Coverage will now be available through 12 October 2027."

Guess the thought of the problems that would result from millions of unprotected PCs finally twigged the alarm bells once again. Just spent the minimum money I could getting a 2nd hand Intel i7, Nvidia 3070 GPU Gaming laptop which I have re-fitted with 32GB RAM, a 1TB SSD for a dual Win10/11 boot system and a 4TB storage SSD but now will hold off on the dual boot which will give me more time to enjoy the summer - if I don't melt.

Don’t be afraid to use your win10 well after 12 October 2027. With a good antivirus, firewall, and limited activities on the web, it’ll still run Cfs3 without problem.

Yes intend to keep running Win10 but I was quite happy with XP until the browsers wouldn't work and the anti-virus companies stopped providing updates. You need the internet just to live these days. Thats why I am planning a dual boot laptop - eventually can disable the modem in Win10 and keep for running and configuring CFS3 whilst using Win11 for living and my research work (tried using it, don't understand why they had to change so much of the basics -took me 10 minutes to find how to turn it off!).

Good, a stay of execution. I've started looking at replacement PCs but will hold off until nearer the time. I don't like being forced to change when I'm quite happy with what I have.
