Tiger Moth

I went ahead and uploaded the skin only version. It should be available once the admins have seen it.

Major - did you ever upload this? I've searched the archive but can't seem to find it?

If it's the stock CFS3 pilot0 figure included in the model, he doesn't scale.
The pilot figure - where does he reside in the cfs3 directory?

Phillip - if you're still around - did you ever start an upgrade model? I've been giving her a spin again over xmas and she does fly very nicely.

Thanks,

Clive

Very good question Clive! The pilot shown when pilot0 is included in a model's hierarchy depends on which pilot you've selected in the sim, afaik. The relevant .M3Ds are in their respective folders in the characters folder, as are their textures. Got something in mind?

Thanks Westview! Got it. Have cut it around to get some RAF markings on it, totally spurious of course!

I've used the gmax pilot from the SDK JU88 and scaled him down a tad. It's a bit of a bodge as he's based on the LW Preussen character so is in the wrong unifom but it does look the part now.

If anyone would like to try him I've attached him to this post. back up your existing Preussen.m3d in your characters/preussen folder and pop this one in its place.

I've tried to see if you can add a completely new pilot, it's possible but I can't find the method at the moment!

Hi Guys,

Hi Clive, nice skin.

the pilot you have made, you can get him in game without overwritting your preussen model.

rename your new model = short-preussen.m3d
and put it in a folder of the same name, then put this new folder into the character folder in your main install.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion\characters\short-preussen

now open up the unlimitedpilots.xml file in your main game install folder. locate one of the british pilots or who ever you wish to change out the pilot model with. and where it calls for the model type in the name of the short pilot model ie short-preussen

example:

<CFS3Pilot Type="Unlimited" Id="1" Default="Yes">
<Value Name="strFirstName" Value="Wilfred -Woof-"/>
<Value Name="strLastName" Value="Arthur"/>
<Value Name="strSquadron" Value="75 Squadron RAAF"/>
<Value Name="Country" Value="Australia"/>
<Value Name="eCareerPath" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="Vision" Value="87"/>
<Value Name="GTolerance" Value="52"/>
<Value Name="MaxHealth" Value="49"/>
<Value Name="Experience" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="Level" Value="1"/>
<Value Name="Rank" Value="1"/>
<Value Name="numAirKills" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numGroundKills" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numShipKills" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numMissionsFlown" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numSuccessfulMissionsFlown" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numCrashes" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numBailOuts" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numDeaths" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numSkillPoints" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numTotalPrestigePoints" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numRoundsFired" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numRound****" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numBombsDropped" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numBomb****" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numRocketsFired" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numRocket****" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numAward2" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="numWoundAward" Value="0"/>
<Value Name="strPortrait" Value="pilot/pic_warthur.bmp"/>
<Value Name="strModel" Value="short-preussen"/>
</CFS3Pilot>

You also need to open up the country.xml file and locate the same character (use the ID number as a search option to find him quickly)

and then type the new model name in there as well.

<Background ID="1" FirstName="Wilford -Woof-" LastName="Arthur" Squadron="75 Squadron RAAF" Model="short-preussen">NON-FICTIONAL
Wilford Stanley 'Woof' |LASTNAME| was born in Sydney, NSW, in December 1919, and enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force at the age of 19. He was a regular officer serving as a pilot with 22 Squadron (operating Avro Ansons and Hawker Demons) when war was declared in 1939. Posted to North Africa in 1940, |LASTNAME| served with 3 Squadron RAAF, flying Gloster Gladiators, Hawker Hurricanes and Curtiss Tomahawks. On 13 December 1940, his Gladiator was shot down by an Italian Fiat CR42 and he was forced to bail out. However, he went on to become a successful fighter pilot later shooting down four Italian aircraft in a single engagement. |LASTNAME| was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in November 1941.

and lastly you will need to go to your application data folder and delete the unlimitedpilots.xml file. the game will build a new one the next time its fired up.

now when you start CFS3 just find the pilot you changed out use him when your flying the tiger moth.

back up everything first, its a very fical set of files, one typo or extra space etc and it will lock your game solid.

HTH's

regards Rob.

PS you can add in another complete pilot to the game, but its a bit more complicated. If your still interested in doing that I'll take the time to type up how its done.

Hey Rob, thanks. I hadn't sussed the country.xml and appication data bit.

PS you can add in another complete pilot to the game, but its a bit more complicated. If your still interested in doing that I'll take the time to type up how its done.

That may be very useful for the BoB install at a later date, when you have some spare time I'd like to know that please. :)

would be nice. Maybe even the big weird black, retracting 'pram type' blind flying hood for the back cockpit? did they have pracrtice flares/smoke marker 'droppers'?
