Tigercat lovers

One of the most fun things about FS are these opportunities to track down all the parts and put together one of these "do-it-yourself lashup kits". You "discover" (or sometimes you even rediscover) an older FS[ ] aircraft you may have overlooked or under appreciated. Then you add some cool sounds (eg lawdogs are a favorite starting place). Sorting out the panels and gauges can be the most time consuming. But then you can further mod cool avionics and rationalise this because a restored classic warbird IRL today on the airshow circuit would have these modern gizmos too. Safety first, of course! Then you discover another kind sole made a much improved FDE. Voi-la ! You're in business.

Love this old AS Tigercat to bits. With the sounds, panels, flight models, repaints available and mentinoed at the SOH it is a great ride.

And it's a Grumman.

I totally agree expat.
It is one of the things that make our hobby so enjoyable and rediscovering older of forgotten models and gathering up and assembling files for them is very satisfying.
BTW got to love the "Iron Works" :ernae:
Still got some Bearcat's in the workshop hanger and a much loved F9F that needs to be de shined a bit before being reinstalled.

Just a quick note on the Tigercat panel I uploaded. The panel bmp is the original one used when this bird was a payware item. This panel bmp, and a ton more used by Alpha Sim, is contained in a panel image collection that Phil uploaded on Simviation.com as freeware. The panel config file was uploaded on Flightsim.com by someone....but did not include the gauges. I simply swapped out originally listed gauges for CFS2 gauges of the same type. All the gauges are in the original location as when the plane was payware....both on the 2D and VC gauges.

Hi OBIO,

I'm certainly not knocking your work.
Quite the opposite in fact.
I was planning to use your panel in the F7F when I was putting it all together but I found my original download of the plane while I was looking for another file and decided to just use that.
I wish I could find that download with all the old Alpha panel bitmaps.
I am still looking for something for the CF100.
Cheers and thanks for all your work.

Want to thank Dave for helping to get me a pretty good flying F7F. She is one great looking aircraft. If I had the $ to buy a P-51 or a F7F.....it would be the F7F. Thats hard to say cuz I'm an Army guy.

Your welcome Bob.

Glad to help.

Cheers.

I'll see your Tigercat, and raise you by two! :wiggle:

I love this old Warbird! :mixedsmi:

Yes Redgreen very nice video. The P-51D was the one for me for many years, Spitfire also, until I found the Grumman Tigercat. Old Navy pilot told me that the name of Grumman on an aircraft is like sterling on silver.

Is anyone working on a new F7F for FS2004 or FSX?

I'm not sure if anyone is Milton, but I'd love one!

A very impressive aeroplane, as can be seen from this video of Pete Kynsey displaying the Fighter Collection's example (now in the USA) at the 2005 Flying Legends show.

Funny, I have this same sequence on video myself (albiet shot from the western end), and I really must put it on YT also!

Cheers

I would love to see a new F7F Tigercat for FS9. I have been flying the AlphaSim model for a long time, which has held it's own, gracefully IMHO.

I have the original payware with the custom panel. I took Pete Ham's advise and aliased the sounds to my copy of the Howard 500 as well.

Good stuff:applause::applause::applause:

I haven't found the panel yet ... searched for OBIO's update but could not find it. :banghead:

Bradburger, thanks ... nice video and great sounds too.

WH: {{{cough, cough}}} If I knew someone to volunteer that wasn't busy, I would.

BB686: I agree ... hopefully someone has it as a WIP. I am happy the sounds worked out for you.

Just kidding, Milton. It's a running joke at my church, it seems that anyone who suggests something needs to be done gets put at the head of the committee for that issue :costumes:
