Tinian's North Field is being returned to service.

I thought this was a joke at first, but I've looked it up, and it's true. North Field was a huge B-29 base in WW2, often seen in documentaries, and was where the two atomic bomb missions originated. At the time, it was the world's largest airfield, but it was abandoned and became overgrown after the war.

Nice if Fifi or Doc could make the trip there.

My dad was a B-29er off of Tinian towards the end of the war. I've always wondered about taking a trip to see it and some of the other WWII Pacific sites.

That's him, far left in the front row. Flight engineer & weapons control.

Before he passed away and getting VIP treatment aboard the Fifi.

Paul,

That is a great coincidence.

I was trying to figure out how old my father was in that early photo. I can't remember exactly when he was born, but my best guess is 18 or 19 at the oldest.
