Hello,
In order to make a full representation of the Battle of France, I'm looking to add a section that deals with the Italian invasion of France, beginning on June 10th. I can find information on ground troops, and I do have information on the Regia Aeronautica, but information on the French Air Force is scarce.
I am hoping that some of you might be able to tell me where the French Air Force was stationed, what aircraft were available, and any other information that you can find. The only thing of note that I've been able to locate is this...
"On June 10, Italy declared war on France and Britain; Italian Royal Air Force (Regia Aeronautica) started its bomb raids over France. On June 13, French ace pilot Pierre Le Gloan shot down two Fiat BR.20 bombers with his Dewoitine D.520 fighter. On June 15, Le Gloan, along with another pilot, attacked a group of twelve Italian Fiat CR.42 fighters, and shot down three of them, while Cpt. Assolent shot down another. While returning to the airfield, Le Gloan shot down another CR.42 and another BR.20 bomber. For this achievement of destroying five aircraft in one flight, he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant."
Any information, combat knowledge, or other sources on the French Air Force and the French Navy Air Force would be greatly appreciated.
With thanks,
