Hi,

today in 1934 - exactly one week after its first flight - the Douglas DC-2 entered commercial service with TWA on the Columbus-Pittsburgh-Newark route. A good reason to create a repaint of that particular DC-2 - the first one ever built :)

It's available at Avsim: TWA Douglas DC-2 'NC13711' (1934)

Greetings

Wow, I never realized that by living in Columbus that I had a DC-2 connection. Folks might be interested to know that the original terminal and hanger at Port Columbus are still standing, thanks in large part to North American Aviation's chief test pilot at Columbus, Ed Gillespi (sp?)

Thanks Tim. Your repaints are one of the big reasons this plane is so special.

I have so much respect for the guys that flew on routes like this one back in those days. Very little for navigation aids, low altitude, and lots of crummy weather.

cheers,
steve :wavey:

Awesome Job Tim.. Since i fly with twva i'm gonna have to get this for sure... Believe me i'm not counting rivets, as i'm just not that kind of person, but if I might imply a couple critiques????

Like I said, I'm not criticising. its just that many of the people i fly with used to work for TWA until it was driven into the ground, and they can be a bit picky at times..
Thanks for the wonderful work. its gorgeous and definately on my list of must haves..
Pam

Thanks Pam. The DC-2 on your pictures is the one from the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

TWA has changed the painting of their DC-2s over the time. At the beginning they looked like the one in my screenshots. Later on they added the red stripes to the rudder and the "The Lindbergh Line" lettering.

Apparently the Museum of Flight used the later paint schema as a model for their DC-2. Where my repaint depicts the first TWA DC-2. You can find an excellent picture of that plane HERE

But my repaint of the Museum of Flight's DC-2 is also available at Avsim :)

Sweet... I'm going to grab it!
oooh, I hope it will feature in one of your great FSX aviation movies:jump:
@John: if only someone would do the Port Columbus buildings ;-)
@Pam: the museum of Flight livery is in the standard download of our DC2 as well.
Thanks for the replies, guys!

R.
