I always find it strange that most games with Tom Clancy in the title have such a simple and predictable background story. Almost as if they just put his name on it for marketing reasons and he is actually not involved in the storywriting at all.

He isn't involved in the story writing indeed.

He stopped writing and publishing in 2005. He sold the use of his name for this franchise :gossip:

I think I had read he sold his name to the game franchise and has little or nothing to do with their design anymore. The game has beautiful graphics, but after playing the demo for the 360 I couldn't help but feel like I was playing Ace Combat 6. Couldn't really stomach the cost of the game, going to wait until it drops to the 20 dollar level.

Interesting....

I saw this at Walmart tonight. I wasnt aware that it was really out yet. (arrghh... )

I need something new, something with jet fighters.. I'll have to check this out. The screenshots look too nice.

I wonder if there are keys (crack codes) to enable free flights where you can just fly around and see the sights, the city, get to know the jets..

Bill

Hey Bill, there are a couple cheat codes posted, they unlock some of the planes without having to advance throught he levels, I am sure more will appear soon. There is a free flight mode, but this is really an ARCADE game, there is nothing much beyond the campain, no take off or landing required, when you start a mission you are airborne on the way to the first objective, and when you complete the objective you are back in the hanger. The graphics are great and the frame rates are fine even on a middle of the road machine.

I enjoy the action, but it does lack the full effect without any take off or landings. If you are into arcade style games, this one is fun, and I am enjoying it, it does fill the need when I get that urge to just blow something up...lol

Armor specs?!? For a A-10 maybe...

No, that's totally realistic. Every time I go out to a real USAF jet and grab the forms, I look for the stats page. There are little neon bars suspended there just like that screeny that tell me what i need to know including the 'the jet is this fast bar". When you're flying, you can hit a button called "nitro" and then really haul mail. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it recharges as you shoot down enemies.:gossip:

Is it just a copy of Ace Combat? I like a Ace Combat for 360 and have for PS2 and even AC1 and AC3 for PS1.

Is it worth buying now or waiting tell the price come down?

I have only played the demo, but from what I have seen I think I am going to wait till it comes down in price. It is just to much like Ace Combat 6.
