From PCAvaitor...Any one using it ?

I have used MyTrafficX from Aerosoft and am looking for a change...

Good things / bad things about it?????

Thanks........

All the planes in the Just Flight Traffic X are made with FSX SDK, so they will work without any problems in dx10, what is more they are fps friendly.
Just Flight is going to relase some illustrated tutorials about creating AI traffic with their software, so it looks like that more folks may create some AI addons.

I have it and I am satisfied. Once the tutorial will be relased, I ll create some AI for sure.

Thanks for that...Thats what I'm looking at...I see they have a DL version where PCAvaitor only has the boxed version.....:woot:

Really?...I wasn't aware of any native fsx ai aircraft. Thanks for the HU djwaglik :ernae:

Agreed, I wasn't aware there were any FSXnative AI either, off to check this out! Thanks for the HU also!! :ernae:

I use TrafficX. It's pretty good, although I've never used any other AI addon for FSX. It definately fills the skys. There are a handful of planes that look a little cartoony, but as long as you don't zoom in too much, you don't notice. I'm trying to learn to repaint so I can fix some of these. The repaint kit is easy to use. I haven't delved into all the features yet, but it should be pretty easy to add your own traffic.

Having ued various AI addons, they don't come close to the quality of WOAI stuff. Admittedly, they are at a cost to frame rates, but even on my single core, my airports are healthy with activity and it is modular and playable with respect to FPS. Taxiing past the aircraft, they really look great, very realistic, but I can see why TrafficX and such have gone for more frame rate friendly models and repaints. As I don't use DX10, it doesn't matter to me.

Jut my opinion, each to his own, so not trying to start a debate.

Just downloaded it....I've been looking for a traffic add-on that had military traffic as I fly often out of military airfields. Once I get FSX up and tuned on the new PC this will be one of the 1st on the HD.

In FS09, I've been using the PAI setups to populate the skies....really hate to fly alone.

I am, thanks :)

PS- I was incorrect in the review, though. Some aircraft do have a fully-functional undercarriage retraction, and also the 757's quality is not representative of all the aircraft!

I have it!

And being the annoying bugger that I am, I'm going to refer you to my website :p

It's also up on FlightSim.com, btw...

There's nothing annoying about helping people to make decisions and making informed reviews. As whether something is good or bad, this is purely subjective, so photo's in reviews help people to make their own decisions. I have just read your review and like the fact that you have covered the good and bad points very well with lots of imagery for people to make their own conclusions too.

I will have to learn how to upload piccies on FSX so that I can show some comparison shots of the freeware thats available. My own review of the payware packages against freeware, say WOAI is:

WOAI
Good...
Much better detail in paints and models, many with multiple LOD
Simple to install, no extras that I never used anyway
Modular - by airline or airforce, fits nicely with MAIW stuff and other freeware

BAD...
Extra load on frame rates due to extra detail, although playable on my single core
Extra time to install each package at a time
Not as much world coverage as the payware products, especially with military
Not as many in game tools if you use them.
WOAI flights have to be converted to FSX from FS9 using something like AIFP

Hope people find that useful

Not quite true.

The strain on FPS is caused by the models being made after FS9 standards. If they were native FSX ones, framerates would be *much* better.

I for myself think the freeware AI traffic groups out there deliver the biggest AI traffic coverage, while all the payware packages are good for those who prefer ease of use over coverage, updates and details.

Agree. As far as I am aware, there is only Traffic X using FSX native aircraft, although I'm sure more will follow.

I'm sure the effect on frame rates is a combination of fs9 models and detail, or else the TrafficX aircraft would look much better than they do (IMO).

I guess it's more a matter of development schedule. ;)

The WOAI models are all from the FS8/FS9 era, with the oldest ones being from somewhen around 2004/2005, made by different authors/groups. The TrafficX models were developed after FSX's release, maybe from around 2007 on, by one single team.
With the huge variety of aircraft in the skies nowadays it is understood that the modeling/texturing job had to be done quite quickly, say at the expense of details on both models and textures.
Maybe the TrafficX development team will update its models at one point...

Anyways, it's hard to stand a chance against a whole bunch of freeware traffic developers anyways. Even I sometimes can't keep up with instlling those new flight plans and traffic packs...:d

Know what you mean !

If they do improve the appearance of the FSX native packs, I will buy without hesitation.

As I always do in threads like this around the web, I vote WoAI. Easy and customizable install (which airlines do you want?), not hard on frame rates at all (I run at 100%). Download the installer, download the packages you want, install 'em and forget about it. I like that.
