Transparent Texture Query?

Does anybody know how to make solid textures transparent? I'm doing some texture work (for my own amusement) on Mike stones Gloster Javelin and I'm trying to make the Red top missiles transparent on the A&AEE texture so the aircraft looks clean but when I make the relevant area black on the Alpha Channel it just comes out reflective. I did a similar thing with the external stores on the AS Bucc once using that trick so does anyone have any Ideas?

Kindest Regards

The part (or entire model) has to be coded for Alpha to be used for transparency. Mike's a friend - I'll pass along a request and see if he can't get me a modified clean model. No promises, all I can do is ask.

Thanks Tom that's very kind of you

That is a much better solution in any case. The transparent missiles if you could get them would likely end up making what is behind them see through at certain angles anyways. At least that was what I ended up with when trying the same approach on one of the C-119sStefan
