Trial of mission for ETO

:kilroy:BeauBrummie, et al, there are five folders for missions in the CFS3 ETO Expansion. While the game is set for default, that's Era 1, the five folders are named missions, bob_missions, 1943_missions, 1944_missions, and 1945_missions. If the game is set for Era 2, the missions folders are named missions (was bob_missions in Era 1), 1936_missions, 1943_missions, 1944_missions, and 1945_missions. One more example, when set for Era 4, the five missions folders are named missions (was named 1944_missions in any other Era), 1936_missions, bob_missions, 1943_missions, and 1945_missions. The Era Swapper changes the names when you select an Era.

The five uires folders, the five global_layer.csv files and five gsl.lib files in the global_layer folder, the five qclocations.xml files, and the five splash24.bmp files are also renamed, to fit the Era, when you select an Era at game startup.

That is why it is highly recommended that you start ETO in Era 1 and then exit before you install anything. I hope this helps.:d

Griz is absolutely right, thanks.

Mission is adjusted and ready for upload as soon as I'll be granted permission to by the admins. Thank you boys for the help:d

Meanwhile take a look...

Hi Nonato,

I've finally found the time to play this last night. I had three attempts at the mission and acheived mission completed once. I loved the new ETOE dynamic feel with passing convoys, lines of trucks, and formations of aircraft.

As for the mission I found it to be fairly straight forward and really enjoyed the Boston. I wasn't intercepted by enemy fighters once and didn't find the flak to be much of a problem. This may be because I came in at wave top level and bombed very low. On my second mission we dropped out of warp (how Star Trek!) neat the coast as there were enemy near. It turned out to be a flight of Ju88's who came quite close. I couldn't resist but to have a go and I scored one Ju88! But he hit me in the starboard engine which whirred and clanked, but I bombed and got home ok.

I never saw the Mossies near the target which as a Mossie fan was a little disppointing. Maybe you could put in more formations of Bostons and Mossies to get the feel of a major attack. One of the Mossie pilot's later reported the when he over flew the factory to take some phots's, "I could see masses of Bostons whizzing about across the trees at low level to port".

Don't get me wrong, but I enjoyed it but maybe it needs a few tweaks?

Beau

Mr. Beau

Thanks for your input.
I've already tweaked this mission and now you'll not only be able to make a beautiful and CLOSE encounter with the Mossies but will have some suprise over the target.
Beautiful pics you have there (were you, by any chance, part of the crew of the photo Mossie that followed the first bomber wave?:costumes:)

After this attack I stooged around looking for targets of opportunity and found this:

the train fought back and hit my starboard trailing edge and nacelle, which caused major stability problems and I couldn't lower the landing gear!

I aborted an attack on this as I don't shoot up animals doing their duty:d

Can you send me the updated mission please. I'd certainly like to try it.

Beau
