Tropical Storm over cape verde..

I couldn resist. This storm was just too pretty.. Interior winds contained 4700 FPM updrafts and 4300 FPM downdrafts which tells my unenlightened eye that the storm is still building.. NOAA has It's eye on it though so we can watch her as she moves across the ocean..
I know theres a lot of pics of out baby in here, but frankly i would have taken them if i'd only been flying a box kite. Please also, keep in mind that the primary mission for many P-61's after the war was sever weather research, so i'll probably be taking a lot more :)..
First pic is me getting ready to get slammed by the inner wall cloud..
Enjoy :)
Pam

Great shots Pam, is that REX or FEX your using?
Its a combination of REX-overdrive and a constantly updating and redrawing ASE.
I maxed out wind speeds and well, the entirety of ASE to provide constant change on the screen, and REX overdrive to provide cloud textures to work with.. It's pretty accurate. better than 60% at least.. When i took off, i was in the heart of the eye, and by the time i landed a half hour later the eye had moved a mile off shore in sim.. I personally never noticed it changing a all because everything was happening in real time.. I love it :)

My parents are dealing with Hurricane Igor in Bermuda right now.

If you're reading this Sunday night, do real world weather at the Bermuda aircraft.

I managed to get a DC-3 with a full fuel load (but no passengers) in the air using just the threshold, the headwind was so high.

I did VTOL in a Piper Cub, and had it flying backwards at about 20 knots with full control.

Edit: Also managed to put Piglet's Porter down right on the helipad next to the terminal, flying directly into the wind with full flaps.

I was looking at that on the NOAA site today and though about it, but it seemed too far east for me to reach in a quick amount of time, so i settled for cape verde as thats a developing storm and those are AALLLWAyS fun
