Truex Jr. To Depart MWR Now?

A lot of people that had nothing to do with this are going to pay a high price for the actions of very few. Pitiful!
 
Bowyer is complicit in the scheme, but I don't think Truex nor Vickers had a clue as to what was going on. It's sad to see them suffer, but what the MWR organization did is now known and the collateral damage may get pretty severe.
 
For the first time since the events of Richmond, I have heard somebody actually say Bowyer didn't spin on purpose. And that somebody was Mike Waltrip on the pre-race show. Nobody that I saw ever actually asked Bowyer himself, which I have never understood, so he never had to deny it. But today M. Waltrip said he stands by Bowyer "100%" and, and he didn't spin on purpose. So, apparently MWR will throw Truex under the bus for this, if NAPA's departure means they can't field three cars next year. Unbelievable. The pre-race chit-chat also speculated that Truex might find a home with a Joe Gibbs 4th car, with NAPA as a sponsor. Interesting. Think NAPA would have stayed with MWR if they put Truex in the 15 and made Bowyer look for a new ride next year?
 
I think this has been building with NAPA. MWR has been penalized/fined quite often in the past 2 years.

remember MWRs debut at daytona....first race for the team and it was a huge scandal at the time..illegal intake manifold was it?...and i remember at first mike denied any wrong doing..then placed blame on a mistake by the engine shop...but it was still a blatant attempt at cheating...

he wants to be like his brother i guess....but ole DW was just much better at lying than mike is...
 
The manifold issue at Daytona was MWRs debut, some years ago. Have they been accused of cheating between that time and now? I don't think they were cheating then, but some disagree. Still, they have done nothing but excel since that time, and the only "black mark" upon them since then has been the latest Richmond race. Anyhow, if MWR has to go to two cars next year, the drivers should be Vickers and Truex.
 
Michael Waltrip and Clint Bowyer are the only ones saying the spin was not intentional and look how long it took for Michael to say it. I think they are throwing Truex under the bus. Truex has not been fired and his contract has not been broken, but he has been told that if a better offer comes his way he should take it. In other words, he's not fired, but they would be real happy if he left. NAPA will find another team. As for the ethics of MWR, yes, they are questionable from the very beginning. I don't know if it comes directly from Michael or perhaps the general manager of MWR or maybe the crew chiefs are schemers, but there is a dark cloud surrounding the MWR organization.
 
Oh heck, I can do a Google search and find twenty stories about teams being busted for "illegal roof flaps", "unauthorized windshields", "incorrect lug nuts", and "illegal track arm adjustment tie bolt transducer power coupler interfaces". Ok, I made that last one up... I doubt that MWR has been more guilty of that sort of thing than any other team out there. I'd like to see evidence that NAPA has been sitting around for years, upset about all the cheating going on at MWR, and now, finally, they've had it.

But, for Truex to suffer 100% of the consequences for this Richmond thing is outrageous, and for Waltrip to let that happen, and continue to defend Bowyer, has caused a loss of respect, for Waltrip and Bowyer.
 
Napa isn't the only one that has issues with MWR. 5-Hr energy is undecided now. Which leads me to believe that it's an accumulation of events that led to Napa's decision and 5-Hr Energy's current indecision.

And we don't know how MWR has been treating their sponsors or handling sponsor funds. It is possible that there is more to the story.

As for illegal parts, yes, a whole lot of teams have been busted for pushing the rules too far or outright cheating with parts. In the case of MWR, there is evidence that they planned to use the actions of their drivers to affect the outcome of the race.
