This is something I've been working on to enhance the great new scenery for Truk and the Carolina Islands. It's not finished yet.

I only made 1 substitution fot a port using the MB GSL. The rest are a layout that I'm working on,even though I put it in as GSL for my Truk.

I've worked with GSL scenery since 2003 while helping with PHP2
 
Al,

I've also played around with Truck from time to time and it's always fun to imagine the goings on of the IJN there.

You've probably seen these before, but here are some interesting maps for those not aquainted with the anchorage.
 
Was working on some missions for Truk but see there isn't much interest in the enhancements which I use in the missions.Oh well back to my DoA missions.

I won't be doing any missions for awhile after I finish DoA.I've been doing all this while on vacation and decided no more until I get back home in September except DoA.
 
All the talk of Truck got me to looking through my screen shot library for my past attempts at Truck Atol. I found the following of the Dublan and Etan Island anchorage for marus.

Its the water...something mesmerizing - and challenging - about virtual navigation over open water to destinations near and far, especially when flying Navy with a carrier involved. If CFS2 had autogen scenery like the FS series, flying the Europa landscape would be so much more interesting.

and below is the link to my scenery which i uploaded a couple of years ago,this comes witha rework of the 3 default IJA airfields,the creation of Dublon naval stocking base ,and the enhancement of the coral reefs with the help of jean bombers work.Pactex is recommended. Set up your task force and bomb Dublon,torpedo a couple of Marus as they escape the reef or strafe the 3 airfields Param, Moen and Eten as the oscars take off. The IJA AA is hopeless.still waitting for someone to redo these objects.

Everything has been moved with the new scenery that came out,so your scenery may have to be redone to fit it.

the Dog1 Truk scenery fits into the standard default CFS2 sim cd like all the others.
 
Nice work Talon, very interesting. As Truk was the Gibraltar of the Pacific it was central to Japanese strategy and activities until it was blasted away in a series of terrible raids by the Enterprise Task group, i think in the end, AA was over rated by many nations as a defense, and it just cannot keep a determined and overwhelming air attack from succeeding. The IJN had a lot of AA and a lot of personell stationed there but in the end it was not able to protect the shipping and the units of the fleet, luckily when the attack came the big ships were away.

I would love to see an updated Truk, i worked for a while on updating the lagoon textures that were created by Jean Bomber for the old and outdated GREEN default pacific textures which do not convey the real beauty of the water of that amazing atoll, but it was too hard to integrate them all, but the changes he made are amazing and really help ..and with added correct structures and shipping it would be wonderful.
