SOH-CM-2024
Did you know that there's one recent RAF training aircraft, which, although available for FS2020, seems to have been largely ignored? It is rarely mentioned, and as far as I can see, although it had some superb paint schemes for display seasons in real life, not one single re-paint has surfaced for it in FS2020. (Let me know if I have missed some!)
The Shorts Tucano is the aircraft under question. And although it may not be 100% accurate, the RP Simulations Embraer version gives us the closest representation we're likely to see. Yes, it may annoy purists to slap RAF paint on the Embraer version, but Azurpoly showed we can be accepting of a Jaguar A cockpit in an RAF exterior - to some degree, so maybe this Brazilian Tucano is better than no Shorts Tucano on our RAF ramps.
Well, I am also guilty of ignoring this beastie. This aircraft has sat in my hangar for a while, and yesterday I fired her up for the first time since getting into VR and blasted it round the Mach Loop. It was great fun, although a little slow after taking Hawks, Tornados and Typhoons round the same route.
Still, it might be time for some some kind soul to take pity on the machine, and start with the original red/white/grey, and then get adventurous with the display schemes over the years it served.
Here are some great images on Britmodeller....
And a few screenshots from the product available in the marketplace.
