TukanFlightsim Ford Trimotor AT5 Released!

Haha , cruising in a dc-3 with George Baker. I can think of some other persons if it has to count for the best time of my life. ;)
No doubt ! But it wasn't about GB of course, it was the DC-3. Think about it.. I forgat the name of the airline ( the DC-3 was rented by our record company to haul our stuff and us around the islands and back to Surinam) but it was deffinately Carribbean i.e. rules are for tomorrow (atleast back then) we've seen the copilot only once or twice. Guess who was sitting in his seat to handle the flaps and gear ??.... Exactly ! Made a ton of Super8, photos, slides (early 70's so no mobiles yet..) all together with the camera's in one small suitcase. Because i was last to arrive at the Zanderij checkout desk i was kindly requested to handover my treasure to go with the regular cargo... That was the last time i saw it.... Only big disaster during this magical tropical tour ( there was another one but that was just hilarious. They have a different current over in Surinam. During our first show all amps blew up with lots of smoke. The crowd loved it ! ;-)

I was joking , Jan.
That really sounds very cool.
Too bad about the photo,s but i guess the memory is still there.
The closest i ever got to the thing was the DDA.
ooh well .....

I got that, Spook.. ;-)

Absolutely ! Really the time of my life ( although i've got a few more ;-)

The closest i ever got to the thing was the DDA.

That's another one, yes. Me and my friend Rob Cappers (of DC-2 fame) were one of the DDA family for a year or two. We worked on FS models of their DC-3's, DC-2, DC-4 and even the Constellation. The latter two never got to fruitation because the DC-4 was sold back to the former owner (not allowed to fly with passengers here in the Netherlands. Such a pity, what a beauty she was ! ) And half way developing the Connie a fantastic freeware L-049 got released, no use for us to continue. But the time in the hangar of the DDA at Schiphol-East was another time of our life for the both of us.

I read recently they will cease to excist. :(
Sadly i lost contact with the DDA for years now. I only know PH-DDA is registered in the UK (or atleast was..), it's only PH-PBA i can still hear and see coming over my house on it's way to EHAM Rwy 22 or 04. What poverty some of us aviation enthusiasts have to deal with for so long already if we compare the endless stream of vacuum cleaners with the enchanting music of two P&W Twin Wasps of a DC-3 coming over our house... My heart always skips a beat when i hear that wonderful music already from far away. I have not heard about it myself yet but i wouldn't be surprised if we here in the Netherlands would be deprived of the Dutch Dakota Association all together sooner or later.. I call myself very lucky to have been able to spend a wonderful time with the DDA for a while and to have done something more or less meaningful for this fantastic organisation ( @Jeroen Plettenberg, if you read this by any chance, thanks a million again !! :encouragement: )

Thanks for that, Spook, in the mean time i read about that too, Extremely sad news indeed.

To return back on topic : all my 3 sessions with the AT5 sofar freezed up MSFS. Actually not seen this before with any model... Ctrl/Alt/Del only way to get out.

Anybody else ?....

No,no, no palomas blancos for me, ughhh.. Me and Hans put Little Green Bag together a year or 2 before that. World hit. World tour. That was it for me. Bye Bye Baker. Thank you Mr. Tarantino. ;-)

Jan, Little Green Bag is one of my treasured all-time favourites - a million thanks for that and all that you do!

I was rather enjoying it, yesterday. Today, I'm really enjoying it.

When the autopilot switch is turned on, my Loupedeck AP is activated, so the functionality is there. I know there are default AP controls within the sim itself, because the DHC Caribou mod uses them. Can't remember them off hand, but for those interested it's worth delving into it. Altitide hold, climbing and descending to a set altitude, rate of climb - they all work. Haven't tried the nav mode yet; that's a pleasure still to come. Heading hold works, but it slowly hunts 1 or 2 degrees either side of the bug. I suppose it averages out and you get to where you wish, but well worth keeping a VFR-eye out for landmarks below, just to be sure.
Re the AP, is it a 'pop up' module, or an older style set of buttons etc somewhere in the cockpit?

Hans = George ? Innit ? I guess reservoir dogs gave it a second wind .
Yessir, Hans Bouwens. We were asked for a new name for our band. Hans was reading a detective at that moment about a police inspector called George Baker (if i'm not mistaken it was a BBC TV series by that time too) and 5 minutes later we added Selection and that was it. I have read that Quentin Tarantino choosed Little Green Big for the opening sequence of his Reservoir Dogs movie as a typical 70's pop song. And that he always chooses the music for his movies with great care. We were as much confused and surprised as well as quite proud about that. ;-)

You bet LGB got a second wind, in fact it very much looks like it keeps on winding.. hehe Proved popular amongst global TV commercial producers too as well as documentaries.

I knew it well, as did most of us on Shell tankers. ;)
I can imagine that, Paul.. ;-) In fact i had to look it up when you asked about it. Never heard of it myself. Remember i was just an ignorant country boy back then. If my mother would've known the biggest open-air brothel happend to be on Curacao she would've never let me go, hehe.. :wavey:

It was a fun night out, even if you only went there for a beer or two, what with the restaurant and live music too. Willemstad was also very enjoyable. I loved the Netherlands Antilles. Fortunately, I avoided Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela, which was often on the schedule if sailing in those waters. :)

We were only there for a day or two, didn't see much of Curacao. We were booked in Venezuela too but they wouldn't let us in... ;)

As Spook48 shows in his post, I use a Loupedeck in flight simming, and control the Trimotor from its autopilot page. The model must have autopilot functionality for it to work, of course. I wouldn't mind betting someone will have a mod out soon, as they did with the Caribou.
