We recently announced a turbo biplane for Flight Simulator X. We are now pleased to annouce that we have teamed up with Infinity Entertainment to bring this outstanding model forward as the FS X version of their incredible Turbine Toucan. This is the most incredible biplane in history, and with the cooperation of the good folks at Infinity, the FS X Turbine Toucan is incredibly accurate to the real world ounterpart.

You can find out more from our Toucan page: http://www.fsd-international.com/Toucan

Here is one of the screenshots:

Have a look at the real thing and compare: http://www.turbinetoucan.com/homepage/

The price will be $24.95 and should be available by the end of the month.

What the? I had no knowledge of this even being mentioned anywhere.
...I did read that Chuck Jodry was working on a biplane. Same one?

I'll have to keep tabs on this one.

Sounds interesting, but will it perform like the real thing? Seems FsX doesn't handle zero airspeed for an aircraft very well making hovering and tailslides near impossible.

Ferry,

Does that have to do with (something I heard) the scenery is what is actually moving and not the model? If that's the case I understand what you mean.

No the scenery does not move. The plane hovers for the same reason it does in real life; its thrust to weight ratio is about 1.6:1. It takes some finess for the pilot, but with a little experience you can do it.

Hi Tim,

I fly radio control planes and have done this hover maneuver many times. It does take lots of practice, but it has a lot to do with the way the aircraft is built. Where the CG falls is very crucial as in any plane real or otherwise. You developers work with numbers mainly. I can see where getting the numbers to work, is a huge thing to solve when applied to the model. Yet math in any case where FSX has limitations.
...In radio control aircraft this can be done by means of physically adding/removing material while maintaining the best power to weight ratios for performance while (in my case of building) on special balancing jigs.

I've noticed a lot of restrictions in the simulator that I myself can't figure out. Then again, I'm not into it at the depth someone like you are to even get close to understanding the physics behind it all. I just try to get all the enjoyment out of it I can.

Infinity Entertainment is the company that makes the Turbo Toucan in real life.

Some scenery moves more than others , the truck in this case is part of the release, as scenery.

OleBoy was right about the world moving by your eyepoint in sim with you staying " TDC " as it were , mind you the illusion of motion is pretty convincing in game.

I thought I read what I stated correctly. Even while sitting on the tarmac with brakes engaged the ground is moving slightly. Thanks for clearing that up Mr. Jodry.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Toucan release date.

Thank You

The Scenery as it appears in FSX, a number of items animated as well with the banners <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
waving in the wind and the 3D animated mesh figure spinning her glass , looking around and tapping her toe in time with my favourite song.

I think the truck deserves to be turned into a drivable model , with ground vehicles in sim always doing 100kph it might be called Fright Sim trying to keep up with traffic

That is a pretty stylish lookin rig. That would be the first drivable big rig in sim wouldn't it?

Ok, ok, stop with the teaser shots already. Next time you post, tell us where we can download it!!

Just kidding Chuck (not being completely honest either...lol) :ernae:
