Two Most Compatible 2020 Aircraft So Far

This AH F3F ( Simmarket) has me baffled. Has a pilot. It looks fantastic in 2024 and flies just like it did in 2020. The only issue I can't figure out is trying to cold start. The normal start procedure goes okay, but she just won't catch and stay running. It's like she's getting no fuel. No problem using the runway start option where she's already running. To double check whether this is a 2024 issue, I also installed the F3F in 2020, where it always worked fine, but now the cold start issue is over there also. One difference is that in 2020 Ctrl-E works. In 2024, Ctrl-E gets her cranking but she won't catch.

This sounds like another identified bug with FS20 "ports" over at the dev board, where the fuel line from the engine pump to the engine is getting sucked dry as you throttle up when using the "modern fuel system". I'd expect a patch for this behaviour at some point.

In FSX I used CTRL+SHIFT+F4 to set Full Rich before using CTRL-E on the problematic aircraft. Sometimes it worked.

Found another with pilots. The Asobo/AH C-47 looks & flies great, but unlike the DC-3, this one's Sperry doesn't want to kick in. Also, this is the only default repaint on this aircraft that is usable. All of the other default paint schemes have blacked out windows.

Hanger Studios 713 CamAir 480 Twin Navion works great, just no pilot and no instrument lighting. Same with their L-17B Navion. Also the Brsims ERCO Aircoupe 415.

I have had issues with stock bindings interfering with aircraft operation. Who knew there would be a stock binding for engine auto stop. As it turns out the switch that used to lower the gear was auto assigned to stop the engines? So Czech those bindings if weird stuff happens.

DC Designs new Concorde came in nicely to 2024. Complete with pilots, revised cockpit and passenger cabin. Great jet engine sounds as well.

I agree. Finding to many way out of left field bindings. I have started a completely clean binding library on my X-56, to get away from the nonsensical stock bindings.

One more with pilot and looks to be 100% 2024 compatible.

She looks nice Forest, but I wonder what those spots are on the glass of some of these 2020 planes?

It really is an issue on quite a few aircraft I've tested so far. Mostly in exterior views, but a few are also affected when sitting in the VC.

With regard to the spotted glass on many MSFS 2020 aircraft in '2024, it's because they all use what was the default glass textures/materials in '2020, which unfortunately in '2024 are interpreted differently, so that the more opaque aspects (smudges and scratches) are much more opaque than they were in '2020. According to a couple devs, such as Lionheart, its been mentioned that Asobo/MS have stated that they may incorporate a fix for that issue with MSFS 2020 imports in a future update. However, even as those textures appeared in '2020, I was not a fan, thinking even then the smudges/scratches were too apparent, and I used modified glass textures quite a bit in '2020, and made my own as well. In many aircraft, having used the default MSFS 2020 glass textures/materials, the texture names are the same, so they are easy to replace (if you have the physical files in your community folder).

I tried something on both the Gee Bee and F3F that wouldn't cold start. On both if I load them up on the runway in running condition and then manually shut them completely down, they both cold start normally. But when I loaded the F3F up running and then do the Ctrl-Shft-E shutdown, it won't restart again. I forgot to try the Ctrl-Shft-E test with the Gee Bee when I had her out this AM.

Many of the stock aircraft are in effect port overs as no one had any time really before release, even ASOBO to make last minute changes. I noticed excessive glass scratching etc on some stock helicopters. Sometimes updates unfix other stuff! Things will sort in time, it does seem to relatively stable!
