Two Questions

Okay guys and gals,

1) My CFS2 "ALT" key only works right when my plane is loading. Once the actual sim begins to work, the ALT key just works as a PAUSE. How do I fix this?

2) What am I doing wrong on scenery? I took a top down screen shot of where Hirara Village and wharf were in 1945. I used it as background in FSSC.
Then I did a surface square and polygon flatten with the tannish and olive green showing.
Then I added roads based upon my knowledge of being stationed in Okinawa in the late 70's early '80's and Google Earth photos of the area on Miyakojima.
The scenery area itself is great and just what I wanted until I add the roads. I keep getting the )( )( )( all along the edges of the roads. :banghead:
Everything is ZERO elevation and flat enough to land on. (I did the runway per Uncle Tgt's guidance, then removed it).

:dizzy:How do I get the roads and buildings from FSSC to actually show correctly???:dizzy:

I have built a layout with docks, piers, buildings, etc. in MB and that is where the scenery background ends before it gets to the shoreline. I just had not yet put it in in this screenshot.

Sorry DD, never used FSSC for roads, only flattens, or bases...

For cfs 2 roads & paths I used Ground2K when I had XP. The cfs2 roads, railways are VTP1 lines, & G2K is the only prog I know that will draw them. But G2K is tempermental, & the compile times are very long.

If we can use Sander's Autocoast with SBuilder, I'm sure we can get this combo to work in a similar fashion, but I'm not sure where Sander's project got to.

I think it has to do with the coastline mesh. but don't quote me.

Edit: nevermind I see what you're talking about now.

That is wierd. I've never seen that. double check that your FSSC is set right. I had to reinstall mine to get the magnetic varation to work again.

Now for roads I use groundmaker. I don't like how FSSC adds the roads. I only use it to add the Fuel areas. I've had not tried to add builds. I use the GSL for that.

Puhsing Alt will open the top Flight, Aircraft .ete list.

Not on mine. For whatever reason my alt key no longer brings up the top menu bar.

Sometimes, when it takes a mind to do so, CFS2 will not let me hit any of the F keys either. This is not always, just sometimes. Crazy.

I will try reinstalling it. Achim kept talking about .sca files, but my FSSC doesn't make any .sca files, only .bgl and .scn files.

I will try booting into WIN7X32bit and see if that makes a difference.

I have been using WIN7X64bit.

Based on several factors, I may get a new HD and reinstall with my XP disk on it and boot to XP for CFS2.

Ok, a third question:

Since BPF TF 57 does not actually bomb the town of Hirara, is it possible to take a screenshot of it from FS2004 at 5,000 feet and use it as a background since I don't need GSL buildings?

Devildog73: Don't do the buildings in FSSC. They won't be destroyable and you can taxi or fly right through them. Use a Mission Builder layout instead, once you have the airfield laid out and use it to create a gob/gsl per Martin Wright's "GSL Design Tools & Techniques." It will give you destroyable buildings and other structures at great frame rate economy.

Sorry about not finishing the bases I said I'd do in the alloted time but I'm having problems with Miyako Jima and its dual runways. For some reason it won't load in MB. I' will work on it and fix it though.

I use MB to add the GSL.

Hey guys do you want to team up on this? Seeing how you are both working in the same region. Right now I'm kinda spinning my wheels on other projects. I'm not getting very far on them and need to give them a rest. I'd be happy to help if you'd like. Besides it would be good to see how you are making everything. It might help me with mine.

I have no objection to collaboration. Hell I might learn something. :applause: After I finish Miyako Jima I'll be ready for the next.

I like collaboration projects. It relieves some of my obsessive compulsive disorderedness and perfectionist syndrome issues.......lol.
Shadow Wolf, Miyako Jima is a bugger.
I tried to make Hirara airfield with roads into the village: WRONG!

Fortunately, Achim was kind enough to build Nobara Airfield for me at his usual level of outstandingness, leaving only the other two to finish up with the village of Hirara and port north of Hirara field.
If either of you are good at scenery, I will gladly give up on the village and port and go back to missions.
