Two WIP's One's a tubeliner!

Oh, a Zlin 50, I´m looking forward to that one! Looks great Tim!

That tube-liner looks interesting, too, quite a bit extraordinary...

Uhhhhhhh

Can we have them both tommorrow ....PLEASE...:d

I find the tube quite intresting...:applause:

Sweet! Now that we can go extra-atmospheric, I'm looking forward to pulling a reentry in the Pan American Orion. :applause::applause::applause:

Hopefully, though, the instrumentation will be a little more helpful than it is in the film (is it still going to have the IBM logo?).

Who when I will finish these, or in what order. Just two things I'm picking away at:wavey:

For some reason, on the paintjob for the Zlin, I envision flames......

Nice work, Tim! Clearing a spot in the hangar !

I did a 'flames' repaint for Bill's Epic....it was...err....interesting to say the least. A lot of work for sure but it looked good in the end.

Those models are looking very good Tim, looking forward to giving them a spin.

Tim,

I had always wanted to make a futuristic plane like that Orian space liner that had those unique monitors on the panels. They would do system scans, open pages/screens, show an animation of the trajectory, show engine readouts, show an few other screens, constantly going through randem screens, all 5 or 6 being different.

I was always trying to figure out how to animate those to change views. At first I thought it would be cool to rig a gauge to show a GIF. I then thought of the 3D model having polygons with art on them, that would popup out of the panel slightly in Ambiant animations, taking turns.. Lately, Fr. Bill Leaming showed me timers (boot up screens on the Garmins) and with that, you could possibly do a sort of blinker for each page, have 6 pages, and have them blink a duration, in an oder, etc.. (Something like that).

If you like, I can ask around and see how it could be done.

Funny how Garmin Synthetic Vision was just released and in 2001 ASO, it was on all the craft, lol..

This is indeed the future...

Bill

PS: On those ports around the perimeter of the Orion. Do you think that is part of the hyper scram jet system? I have heard of this guy that did the special effects for 2001 ASO. He was a brilliant man. He was a professor down at Tuscon's main university, UofA. Perhaps a sort of Jules Verne.

Bill, from what I've read and from the few original design drawings that remain (Stanley Kubrick ordered all of the models and plans destroyed after the production wrapped), it looks like that belt of ports are retros for manuevering. Also, according to Harry Lange's original design drawings, the aft of the Orion III was supposed to be a booster section that would separate from the main ship just behind that retro ring (and taking the aft part of the wings with it) after achieving orbit. Kubrick left this out of the picture.
