Attention all astronomers! There is a new Type Ia supernova that has been seen in the nearby spiral galaxy M101, and it’s very young — currently only about a day old! This is very exciting news; getting as much data on this event as possible is critical.

Note: regarding the author's "currently only about a day old" means we can just now see it but it happened 25 million years ago give or take a decade or so.

Thanks for these astronomy HUs Warrant. My dad's passion was astronomy and we always had an observatory on the property. We'd get up at all hours to see some extra earth phenomenen through the telescopes and I still find it all fascinating to this day.

Thanks for the link!

Astronomy is definitely one of those hobbies I know I'm going to get into at some point. I just don't have the money to get the equipment that I need to work along with my DSLR and computer right now. Some day...
