Hey,

Didn't we have alternative uimusic at one time. I remember Lil Marane (spelling) sung by M. Dietrik (spelling)?

Ted

That's my very uimusic for MAW: Lili Marlene with Marlene Dietrich. Are you needing the file?

I might be wrong about this but. . .

Although Marlene Dietrich recorded the song, she did not do so until after several years after war's end. The version used in MAW is historically accurate, that is, the version is sung by Lale Anderson, whose recording was extant during the war.

Don't think you're wrong. I've read some of the kind. I guess we can still find some footage of Mrs Andersen in youtube singing Lil'Marlene. But you have to agree that if the MAW's song is with Mrs. Andersen then both would have an strikingly similar voice...:wiggle:

Marlene Dietrich sang an English version from 1943 for allied soldiers, Vera Lynn and others did as well. It is a funny story because the song was composed by Norbert Schultze, who was well known for his propaganda songs, but Goebbels didn't like the song (also because Lale Andersen was suspected to have contacts with Jewish groups in Switzerland) and it is was banned. The Wehrmacht radio station in Belgrade broadcast it nevertheless (every night before closing down). The station covered northern Africa and soldiers on all sides loved it.

Check the archives in the CFS3 download section. Good variety there, including some airfield ambience sounds.
