UK scenery textures

Hi all,

For my own amusement I've been messing with the terrain textures. These are the 'Peliland' textures released for BoB2 years ago and for which I have permission to use. These are what the CFS3 BoB install scenery is based on.

There's a way to go yet but for folks like me who mainly fly around the UK I think they're an improvement. I wanted to get this work sorted so I can then look at getting the airfields to match.

Thanks to all who have helped me with all the tools and tutorials, especiall Achim, that imagetool is wonderful! :)

Work in progress...

Hi Clive,
Looking good fella!

That's pretty good for low level detail, I like.

I take it these are summer texs, and maybe a little darker for autumn/winter?

Cheers

There's only one set at the moment, which are summer although they do look a little subdued. I've yet to work out which are the other season textures.

The ones replaced so far are 008b2su1.bmp to 008b2su7.bmp. They're at 512sq rather than the stock 256 which gives them better detail and I've not noticed an fps hit.

What I'd like to to do is just change the UK textures and leave the rest alone ...and maybe change the northern France ones to something more in keeping too. Is that possible does anyone know?

Wow

This texture looks great. I think it would be a great improvement although in my ageing rig the consecuences could be some other thing.

You can also change the landclass values with EZ Landclass 2(Needs MS Excel)

Thanks for the tip tobob, that looks just the job! :) The amount of tools available to mod this and the other FS series is simply quite amazing.

Good point Discus, it would be a simple matter to re-size back to 256sq so if I get them to a stage to upload I'll include a low res set too.

Hi Clive,
Sander de Cocq (as SdC or later as SdC Redux here at the SOH) was the tex mesh guru, in terms of info and knowledge, his old site was superb, but now unfortunately defunct (unless someone knows otherwise?). It had exactly the info you wanted. Now I think Rami will have a hand on mesh/tex info etc etc, if you PM him he will no doubt be able to help you.

Cheers
