Un-Playable!

Hi All, I have a problem with the throtle. For no reason at all the engine will cut out. I have auto mixture on...so it is not that. I thought at first that by doing manuvers I was depriving the engine of gas but it happens when I am flying level at cruising speed also. If I am high enough I can recover but at low altitudes I will crash before the engine picks up again. This happens on all the planes I fly.

I am thinking it may be my joy stick which has a seperate throtle on it...but I don't use it. The game is not playable with this problem. Is any one else having this kind of problem?

i once had a joypad with a seperate throttle lever. and i had the same problem since i found out my joypad throttle was, although not touching, always cutting the engine. so i put the lever to the max, still every now and then cutting it. it was too sensitive with the contact inside which somehow gave the wrong impuls.
try to delete the assignment for your seperate throttle in the control options.

If nothing else helps - perhaps you should use the joystick throttle, as the game seems to refer to it first?

I don't understand why make the thread title so dramatic, when I read the post.
I also don't understand why someone uses a joystick but not the throttle part of it ?
How are you controlling the throttle? Whichever device/way you are doing it , it seems to be the cause of your problem.
Just use the joystick throttle !!!

The title is not too dramatic. I can't play the game with the conditions (motor conking out). I have tried both methods. Using the throtle on the joy stick and using the number keys. Neither works. Sometimes the engine knonks out right at the wrong time and I smack into the ground. I think I am going to go buy a new joy stick. (although this one is fairly new and was an expensive model). Thanks for the feedback...I do believe it must be the joystick throtle because the game seems to be working for the everyone else correctly.

You say it is a new joystick. Question: Did you calibrate joystick and throttle in 'System Preferences -> Game Controls' after plug it in the first time?
If so check there what the throttle does when you move it.

To test...

...try unplugging the joystick (and throttle) completely from the computer and reboot. Then try a quick flight with just the keyboard. This would tell you if it is the joystick. If all works fine, you know it's the stick... then get a new one.

My joystick throttle doesn't seem to be working when I first start the engine. Move it down and back up to full and it begins to work. Like the computer doesn't recognize the initial throttle setting on the joystick. I don't know if this is working as designed or working as my joystick works.

Hit F5 and look at the throttle readout when you are on the ground. Does it go up/down smoothly with input or is it erratic? Try it in CFS3, and if it works fine, come back into BHaH and try it.

To all the people that suggested a fix, "Thank you for all your help." I think I have disabled the throttle on the joystick through key mapping. It worked this morning on a short flight...when I get home from work I will give it a full flight. Thanks again.

I've convinced myself to use the throttle on my Joystick for Phase 3.

During Phase 2, I used my keyboard, because the physical location of the throttle SEEMED un-natural (Saitek EVO cyclone FFB )
Luckly, in OFF my throttle doesn't get much use, as most engines run wide open all the time, or 90%, or 80%.
When diving 10%
That requires No work normaly

Made a decent Blip Switch: from F10 & F11

Reprogramed them to 10% & 100%

Has the same effect as doing your magnetos, which is impossible :kilroy:
