Those that have downloaded our Chi-Chi Jima 1945 scenery will need to re download the file again. Several unneeded files and folders somehow popped into the original download. See the original Chi-Chi Jima 1945 release thread for more details.

The new scenery is being uploaded now. When Rami ok's it should be ready. Wait about an hour before downloading.

As Mark mentions do not install the terrain.cfg found in the original version. It has been removed in the update. Sorry for any problems.

Jim, it should be ready to download very shortly. The upload just finished and I heard from Rami on the replacement. You can find it in the Warbirds Library. Enjoy

When I looked inside that terrain cfg I found this info:

This modified FS X terrain.cfg is the result of discussions among
// various scenery designers during testing of Flight Simulator X.
// The modifications are the work of
// Richard Ludowise and Luis Fliz-Tirado.
// November 2006

// Modifications include the following:
//
// - 3 new land class values added:
// 252-custom seasonal,
// 253-custom non-seasonal,
// 254-transparent
//
// - VTPLayerRenderPriorities
// changed 7=30000
// to 7=20000
//
// - all FS9 legacy shorelines 2-109 now have a GUID
// and a StripWidthMeters added,
// making them usable with Shp2Vec
//
// - wave effect removed from
// dry water body shorelines 10,28,37,64,100
//
// - wave effect added to
// lake urban perennial shoreline 41
//
// - legacy airport backgrounds (obsolete) 167-185
// changed FlattenMode=flat
// FlattenPriority=50000
// to FlattenMode=none
//
// - land class polygon white coral beach 192 now references
// coral texture, value 132
// instead of tansand, value 137
//
// - all default fs x hydro polygons 194-199 now reference
// non-rocky water, ocean_sea_large_lake_0
// instead of ocean_sea_large_lake, value 100
//
// - legacy water flatten and mesh-clinging water polygons 380-381
// now reference non-rocky water, ocean_sea_large_lake_0
// instead of ocean_sea_large_lake, value 100
//
// - added FS9-style land class polygons 383-385
// referencing
// 252-custom seasonal,
// 253-custom non-seasonal,
// 254-tranparent
//
// - added hydro polygon rockslope 386 that references
// rocky water, ocean_sea_large_lake, value 100
//
// - added wave effect without a shoreline texture, 387
//
// - added utility without grass corridor, 388
//

Just thought I'd let you know.

richoday, somehow the old file was placed as the correction. I have had several errors when trying to upload the correct version. I just finished uploading the corrected version without the DEV files or the terrain.cfg file. Hopefully Rami can still make the change this evening to the correct version. Sorry for all the confusion. It seems the harder I try the behinder I get.

Regardless as you can see the version first uploaded works fine there are just some extra files you do not need or should use. (terrain.cfg)

Uh-oh, I installed the first version, terrain.cfg and all.

But, I don't know what it changed on my system. No problems running so far. I may try the trick someone else posted about getting the install disc and just taking the terrain.cfg from it.

I love the scenery. The shell splashes are awesome. It is a hoot to take off from the strip, the low-level it out of there. Then, switch to tower view and watch the water shooting up around you as you get out. Very cool.

I have flown around the scenery twice so far and keep finding little things that you guys put in there. half-sunken ships, bases on other islands, a fleet coming in, etc..... Cool stuff for sure!
Thanks for putting all the hours in!

You only get a problem with that altered terrain.cfg if you previously installed other software that modified it in your installation before (like ORBX does). Those changes will be lost if there's no backup, but a re-install of the previous scenery would fix it.
The modified terrain.cfg created by Rich and Luis corrects some problems the default FSX had (London...) and makes legacy FS9 scenery elements accessible (which are better, IMHO). In my opinion using this is one of the "musts" when setting up FSX / P3D.
If you had an unmodified terrain.cfg and replaced it now you only would profit from the change.

But again, you don't need it for ChiChi because we've got completely new vector elements here, which simply have to be added to the terrain.cfg.

Best,
Mark

OK, now I'm totally confused. I made the changes to the terrain.cfg as you instructed in version1. Are you saying I should just leave them as they are or should I revert back to the file as it was before the changes?

Mal, as I understand it, if you didn't replace your terrain.cfg with the one included in the pack but just edited your own with the shorelines entries then all should be well.

I hand-modified the cfg that was already resident in the sim, so I will just leave it as it is now. Thanks Roger.

Well, the only "changes" I have for FSX would be REX. I, of course, have installed scenery's and such, but no landclass updates like ORBX and the like.
So, are you saying that with this accidental terrain.cfg, you can use fs9 scenery more easily? I seem to remember some fun Alabama scenery that didn't work in FSX, that would be a bonus from this accidental .cfg file thing.

Thanks for the reassurance Mark. If I find any scenery I have installed that is wacky, then I will update. Till then, I think I am gonna recreate The Final Countdown. Okay, okay, I did it last night, but will do it AGAIN! Nothing like buzzing the fleet at 800kts. Just need some A6M AI flying around that I can bounce......

Really though, great scenery. Having fun!
