Updated F-35

funny.. I installed the B and C variant.. the only one I see in the sim is what was loaded with P3D.. the A variant.. did you do anything special.. It was the most current build from Dino's website too.

Look at the titles in the aircraft.cfg file. You should look for those when selecting the "vehicle".

I installed them and they show up just fine without any tweaking or whatever.

...the F-35 should work along the installed version just fine.
All three variants should work OK... maybe the files were misplaced.

Hey Guys.. Fixed my issues.. What happened was I downloaded the latest version of the F-35 and only installed the B and C varent ( because the A was already included).. Once I put the A into P3D all is well..

Dino, I want to thank you for all the hard work you do for our community! Your amazing contributations along with having a full time job and a life... I for one am very thankful.

So am I interpreting this correctly that for the F-35 to work in P3D, I have to keep the original version and then install the latest A, B, and C versions on top of that?

If you have added any paints (textures) then you need to backup the aircraft.cfg first, then add those cfg entries back in the new cfg file. If not you can install over top the original, or just delete and install new version.

You are welcome - and yes, the preinstalled F-35A is completely separate from the one in the full package (this was done for compatibility reasons). You must install all three variants from the full package.

...and by the way, I am working on a new version of the F-35 which exploits some of the P3Dv2 new features (like Picture-in-picture images for DAS and TFLIR and ground mapping radar) ....

Oh wow !! It's the very first time I see that feature working in P3D !
The FLIR technology that was used in the FSX DX9 Superbug is not usable in P3D, and in the first P3D versions, nobody knew what technology could be used to display a FLIR...
It's good to see that the P3D engine allows it to exist :)
By the way, is there any impact on the FPS ? You're displaying two pictures at a time on your screenshot, that's quite impressive.

Also, could that technology be used to simulate real mirrors in the cockpit ?
 
Yep, pretty sure all Dino's current models have the option now. There is a little frame rate hit, but it's not too bad. The image is a bit low-res though.
 
Well... there is an impact on frame rate, but not as big as I thought.
P3D allows the creation of picture-in-picture gauges quite easily - it is a built-in feature of the gauge system.
Biggest limitation is that you cannot control the camera orientation directly in the XML code (bummer) - but this can be done via C++ in ways that are beyond my current knowledge.

Latest versions of my T-45C and F-14D use this to create working mirrors in the VC (note that this feature is disabled by default - look at the documentation on how to activate it).
