Baldy's Beriev-Be4 updated prop disc

Hi everybody!

I am ready to upload updated prop disc textures for Baldy's Beriev Be-4 floatplane. But I saw a glitch in the display.

Did anyone notice the below prop disc, superimposed on the pilot figures, hiding instead of showing them through the transparent disc?

Besides, I am puzzled by the following entries in the Be-4 dp:

mount.2=AlkanGPU, 1, -1
mount.3=AlkanGPU, 1, -1
mount.4=AlkanGPU, 1, -1
mount.5=AlkanGPU, 1, -1

I don't seem to have this "AlkanGPU" in my wep library. The weird thing is that I do not get the usual "Object missing" CFS2 message when I load the Be-4 in F.F., yet, each time I select this payload, I get an immediate CTD. :icon_eek: :confused:

On the positive side, the bow splash and water spray effects, developed by Talos2005 for Buddha13's conversion of the Supermarine Walrus, fit this Be-4 perfectly.

Cheers!

AlkanGPU

Hi Kelti

this is the bomb rack and funnily enough it's only listed in Objects_DP together with AlkaTgpu in my setup so maybe it's included in a weapon bgl - I've uploaded the dp file so see how that works ( the AlkaTGPU file is identical - different name )

remember to rename file as AlkanGPU.dp

prop disc

I've checked this using raf_pilot and wep_raf_pilot with the same result but it doesn't affect the rear gunner or the bombs when viewed thru' the prop disc - I can only think of one other cause but that will need me to redo the mdl file so I'll have to get back to you on that

Looks like the prop disk material needs to be made transparent. I see this with gMax when I forget to make the prop disk 1% transparent. One way to also know if the prop disk needs to be made transparent is to watch for engine start up/shut down smoke. If you don't see the start up/shut down smoke behind the prop disk than you need to add some transparent to the prop disk.

Hi Allen

that was the problem but it's sorted now - advancing years is the real problem

Did that a few times than I made a gMax parts library folder that holds basic things like props, pilots and gunners. When I need them I use gMax's merge option and they are added to the 3D model. This way I don't have to do any thing related to material for props as the settings are loaded with the part merge.

Hopefully FSDS has somthing like that as well.

Yes, I'm always adapting parts from previous builds - I think this was from an old one 'cos the propeller was a good shape - didn't check thoroughly enough -still nobody died

all the best

That was fast!

Hi Baldy,

thank you very much for your immediate reply and fixes. If you are planning more models in the near future I can send you a library of updated prop disc textures tailored to your creations.

Apart from your very beginning efforts, all of your models seem to retain the same prop disc outer circumference, which helps me creating a "one-fits-all" collection easy for you to use.

In this way, you will not be forced to use again those hideous textures I first released many years ago. I will send you plain discs, like the one equipping this Be-4 or all Luftwaffe airplanes, and Allied-style discs, with the outer yellow trace left by the spinning yellow-tipped prop blades. Send me a PM with your current e-mail address.

I will upload the Be-4 pack a.s.a.p.

Hi everybody!

I just uploaded updated 3-blade propeller textures for Baldy's Beriev Be-4 floatplane.

Full disc and individual blade textures to choose from, exhaust smoke effects added via dp and Green Ghost's DAP gauge-controlled wake and water spray effect included.

The wake and water spray effect was created by Talos2005 for Buddha13's first conversion of Mike Stones' FS9 Supermarine Walrus. I simply tried it on this Be-4 and discovered it fits perfectly! Maximum results with minimum effort....:biggrin-new:

Enjoy!
